The CPUSA are just a bunch of reformists who think its a good tactic to vote for and publicly support the US Democratic Party.

Actually, I was intending to ask youse guys' thoughts about them sooner or later--it seems they are never mentioned (or at least I've never seen them mentioned) on RevLeft.
*An aside: I seem to be able to post threads if I keep the number of letters in the title down to two or three characters and in one word.
CPUSA=:lol:

I like how the make a little joke about the who soviet union thing, hahah good one CPUSA, considering they were pretty much run by the Soviet Union up unitl 1989.
I don't think anyone here, maybe a few, but most don't have any respect for the CPUSA, they are pretty much a social-democrat reformist group, and an inconsiquential one at that, no one really cares about them any more, other than in history classes about the cold war.

You know what's funny about this board? Any mention of any group or political party other than one's own elicits these dismissive "they're just a bunch of _______" comments.
What do you think communists and anarchists are? A serious, growing force in the world, where the French, the French for cryin' out loud, have now elected as president Nicolas Sarkozy, leader of the UMP, a center -right party.
European communists were apparently taken more seriously in the 70's than they are now. So what are they "just a bunch of"?
Why don't you guys be a little less dismissive of these alternative parties, these ...
opposing ideologies.

^^^ I generally try to be. I don't think I've ever lambasted a leftist party for reformism on these boards. I disagree with there tactics sometimes, but I respect their effort to enact progressive change.

*shrugs* Capital's been on the offensive, but the long offensive is starting to slow. You'll be surprised to see what happens next. Besides struggle is necessary for survival. Its not something to just give up, becuase it provides basic material and psychological benefits.
Oh and, btw, after May 68 the French elected a far more conservative government than the one today. So I wouldn't be too ready to dance.

This just shows your ignorance. France has had a right-wing president since 1995. Chirac was just as conservative, he just didn't want to participate in the Iraq war. Of course, at the same time, France did still cooperate with the US's extraordinary rendition (torture by proxy) of prisoners. American idiots think that every European leader who doesn't support Bush is a communist.
So yeah, it would reflect greatly on you if you'd use a bit of modesty in expressing an opinion on a subject that you clearly don't know much about. Many European communist parties (not all, though) are quite clearly growing. Some people on RevLeft don't like this, and will post their little 'denunciations' until the cows come home, but that's just how it is.

Really? Name a few that are "quite clearly growing." It appears to me that their performances in recent elections are laughable, less than 5% in Italy, less than 2% in France's most recent presidential election, which is even worse than the <4% in 2002. How many communists are in Britain's parliament?
With growth like this, they'll need to start meeting at their parents' houses before long.
p.s. Hey Wanted Man, I seriously love Johnny Cash. Listen to "Big River" if you've never heard it.

Elections aren't the only measure, but sure. Communist Party of Greece, 8.15%, up by 2.26. CDU (Portuguese Communist Party + Greens), 7.6%, up by 0.6%. AKEL (Cyprus), 31.1%, and the Cypriotic president Christofias was elected with 53.37% of the vote. Note that these are all countries with two-party systems, like the USA. Being the third party in such a system is pretty sweet. No doubt, it's better than the Libertarians, Greens, CPUSA, Reform Party or any other American party that tried and failed to challenge the Republicrats.
Membership counts aren't known everywhere, but the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia has 107,813 of them. Oh, and then there's the Avante! Festival in Portugal, which draws thousands of people every time. Or the funeral of Portuguese communist Alvaro Cunhal, with this procession (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/e0/Funeralcunhal2.jpg). Or the UZ-Pressefest in Germany, visited by 50,000 people last year.
Parents' houses? Go sodomise yourself with a retractable baton, you American idiot.
