He comrades,
I need your help.
Today my dad came to me with the national income of
a average cuban. And he compared it to the United States.
I told him that as long as they are under the horrible embargo,
its no wonder that's its so low.
Well challenged me to come with facts, to show him that Cuba
is something " good ".
Well I was hoping you guys had, articles, statics. So I can form my project.
I will put it on che-lives when im done.

Well, to start off, Cuba has a wonderful culture, something USA doesn't have. In the capital, lays Buena Vista Social Club, with some of the best latin jazz musicians.
And the healthcare is actually very good. If you end up in the streets in Cuba, you are almost guaranteed to survive. Healthcare and education is free in Cuba. In USA, 45 million americans live without healthcare.

Cuba's dental scheme is one of the best in the world. Far better than any western country.
Also, what does it matter if they earn a fraction of the money that a US worker would? As long as the cost of living is proportionally low, everything is fine and dandy. That comparason of his seems very one dimensional and shallow.
This page (http://hometown.aol.com/merengue123/cubaeng2.html) examines the cost of living in Cuba.

D DAY - First off, I want to say that I don't believe Cuba is a communist state, and I consider that the Cuban revolution was of a petty bourgeois nationalist, rather than a Marxist, kind. Nevertheless, under a centrally planned economy, several advances were made - as in other nations - particularly in the areas of health and education.
This page gives you a good outline of Cuba's country statistics: http://gbgm-umc.org/country_profiles/count...istics.cfm?Id=5 (http://gbgm-umc.org/country_profiles/country_statistics.cfm?Id=5)
They don't mean much till you compare them with the stats of other (capitalist) countries, and particularly other south american countries: http://www.afsc.org/cro/ia/ju0104.htm . Even the World Bank President James Wolfensohn had to commend the Cubans, saying they are "doing a good job on education and health, and it does not embarrass me to admit it."
I believe, also, that Cuba produces the most doctors per capita in the world.
Here are some links from a credible sources that praise the Cuban healthcare/education system:

Of course, the other side of the coin is the repressive nature of Castro's regime, the many dissidents languishing away in jails, the considerable poverty of many of its inhabitants, and so on.
I hope this was of help.

I have seen articles talking about the Cuban health-care system being over-rated; about how children are dying of curable diseases because of a medicine shortage...these articles are meant to be anti-Castro but they fail to mention that the medicine shortages are caused by the US embargo!

Fuck Cuba.
It's a hellish dictatorship, suppressing dissent, debate and Democracy.

Dedinitely listen to ArgueEverything. Cuba is not something to be compared to the fcommunist flourishment as it represents all evil of stalinism. Considering the isolation, I'd say they're doing pretty good. But when that state is hit by capitalism (capitalist restoration), the condition of Cubans will be disastrous. They have only one choice:socialist revolution. Either that or they won't see any food on their table anymore.
The same goes to N Korea.

The health care is good, except for when it comes to drugs. You can get a free heart transplant on request, but it's trickky to get aspirin. Under the terms of the embargo, Cuba can't buy anything that contains 25% US made materials, so that excludes nearly all drugs
