What did you guys think of his grandstanding on the Senate Floor? Is this a desperate man, or is he the next President of the United States? If the elections for president were held today would you vote for Dascle, Bush, Gore, or the Green Party candidate? Was Bush right to state that some members of congress put political gain ahead of national security? Who politicixed the war first? What do you guys think of Ted Kennedy? Is he drunken bum, or a viable politician? Give me your predictions for the midterm elections. Will the marajuana initiative pass in Nevada? Who will control the Senate and the House? Will Jeb win the Florida gubernatorial elections?

Maybe SN doesn't know about this, but Bush has already backpedalled on his remarks, in which he stated that Democrats weren't interested in national security.

The New York Times:

WASHINGTON, Sept. 26 President Bush sounded somewhat conciliatory toward Democrats today, declaring that they, like Republicans, were interested in the country's safety and that there would soon be unity on how to deal with Iraq.

"The security of our country is the commitment of both political parties, and the responsibility of both elected branches of government," Mr. Bush said in a gray and drizzly Rose Garden after conferring in the White House with several members of Congress who support his resolve to oust Saddam Hussein.

It seems that SN wants to support statements made by Bush that even Bush doesn't want to support anymore!

While at an fund-raising luncheon in Denver yesterday, Bush hardly sounded apologetic. He refused to issue an apology and stated his remarks were taken out of context which they were. He went further to criticize the democrats. Clearly the tide has shifted and it is about time somebody ties these democrats to their European socialist counterparts. Time to go on the offensive and put the treasonous bastards in their place. Sorry that you think Daschle won some sort of political victory. Everything that man does is political suicide. He is simply not a very likable guy. Of course, someone like you would stick up for him. You are one and the same.

Daschel is a worthless ****. He is using this for political gain...the democrats know that this war is bullshit and want to come out looking good in the end.

Actually, I don't like Daschle. Indeed, I've never said anything to support him. It's interesting, however, that you read that into my post, which was about how you support something even the president has backed away from, which I find amusing.

As for taking Bush's remark out of context, that's just another SN lie. Here's the quote, from the NYT (David Stout reporting):

"'The Senate is more interested in special interests in Washington, and not interested in the security of the American people,' Mr. Bush said."

What's unclear about that? Is there anything ambiguous in that statement? Of course not, but SN wants you to think that there is. Bush messed up, now he's backing off. Everyone can see that. Except for SN.

First he says my post is about Dashcle, which is a lie, and then he says that Bush's remark was taken out of context, another lie.

Same old SN, making up a new world that better suits his bizarre ideology.

For those interested, here's the complete quote as reported in the Chicago Sun-Times on Sept. 26, 2002:

Speaking of a debate over legislation to create a Department of Homeland Security, Bush said, ''The House responded, but the Senate is more interested in special interests in Washington and not interested in the security of the American people. I will not accept a Department of Homeland Security that does not allow this president and future presidents to better keep the American people secure.''

Clearly, Bush posits the Republican-controlled House against the Democrat-controlled Senate.

Out of context? Hee!

Oh, and hey, look at this, from the Herald Sun on Sept. 27, 2002:

Later the same day, while addressing a rally for Republican Senate hopeful Doug Forrester, the President went on to say: "My message to the Senate is; you need to worry less about special interest in Washington and more about the security of the American people."

Twice in one day? Bush must have been feeling all out of context that day, huh?

:)

Retreat, you capitalist dogs. You have been overrun.
Salvage what little you can from this defeat, your forces grow weaker by the day.

I think the Cannabis legislation will pass in Nevada. They seem to be one of the more progressive states in the United ones.I'll be moving over there as soon as it does, so get ready America.

Nevada a progressive state. Now that's laughable. Bottom line in Vegas is the ulmighty dollar.

Yes, Daschle took the quote out of context. He claimed it was in regards to the Iraq situation and not Homeland security. What about the fact that he said it twice in one day? Doesn't that provide evidence that Bush is sticking to his guns rather than 'backpedalling'? The comment is not off base. Bush is right the Democrats put political gain ahead of national security every time. You simply do not like it, because they happen to be loosing the game.

antidemocrat = anticommunist ne republican

I will be voting Republican in the midterm to help seal the fate of the party. It's time for them to be replaced with a more down to earth sort of party. I just can't bring myself to vote for somebody that tows Peacenicked's line.
