It is amazing how people continue to vote for the Democratic party when the party continues to lie to it's supporters.

The democrats have caused homlessness to rise in places like New York with the Welfare reform which has forced thousands of New Yorkers out into the streets.

The democrats continue to claim that unlike the Republicans they support public education. However it was a democrat, Mario Cuomo who first raised Tuition in SUNY and CUNY schools in New York State in 1989. (City collage btw was a free institution when Henery Kissinger went there as an under grad.)

The Democrats claim to be for GLBT rights, yet pass do nothing laws like the don't ask don't tell policy which make things worse.

Most people who vote Democrat claim to be in support of some form of government sponsered medical care, be it single payer health care, or perscription drug fund, etc.. however what has the Democrats done with 8 freekin' years in office?

Most Democrats here in New York State are against the Death penalty Pataki reinstituted. However their major candidate Carl McCall hasn't spoken at all about the death penalty!

Democrats are worthless and spineless. When is America going to get a political party with a backbone?

Yes, it's all true. But when this is the alternative (http://www.commondreams.org/headlines02/0925-09.htm), I can almost understand people voting Democrat.

There are your real democrats...

Fuck them both, we don't need a republican or a democrat, we need some one who thinks less about how others perceive him, and more about what he thinks is morally right.

I agree both parties are shit. But Republiklans come on. There turning into a bunch of liberals. e.g Bush wanting to legalise 10 million criminal illegial mexican immigrants and Bush appointing an openly gay person when he said he woudn't.

Both parties are procapitalist.

Nevertheless, I find myself supporting the democratic party. I am crossing my fingers that they will not be annihilated in November. Hyperpatriotism only helps the GOP, and this November will be the first post 9-11 election. I am fearful the Senate will become controlled by the GOP, when all hell will break loose.

Yeah, what a shame it would be if Tom Dascle was ousted in November. Did you see his temper tantrum on the floor of the Senate? What a display of unprofessionalism and immaturity. The guy should resign his office, although I don't think it will be necessary. The people have been alerted to the fact that a dip-shit antagonist currently controls the Senate. Not to mention, Jim Jeffords betrayed his party in order for hiim to get there. The House and the Senate belongs to the Republicans. Sorry. Bush was right. Many Democrats put politics before national security. The people want immigration laws, growth in the military, and long standing tax cuts. They know the liberals will not support their wishes. I hope this marks the death of the Democrats and the emergence of a new party. They should go down in history like the Whigs.

SN,

That's funny, considering a majority of people voted for a Democrat over Bush, and, when you factor in the Nader votes (assuming you have a rational bone left in your body and realize that most Nader voters did not support Bush at all) then you'll see that Bush did not have a mandate at all when he was appointed to the presidency. The election showed a deep division in the US, not support for lunatic right-wing policy.
