(Yeah the title has "thread" in it twice deliberately).
Right, while the tag problem is being sorted out I've decided that the best way to allow OIers to start threads (that will show up on searches for threads they started) is to post the first post of the thread they want to start in here, with the desired title somewhere on the post. Then I (or another moderator) shall split that into a new topic, with the desired title (which will be edited out of the first post). It's not perfect, but I'm not able to help fix the problem so I'll just start this bodge.
EDIT: Apparently problems are still occuring, thread therefore re-stickied.
