Comrades:
The following link will take you to the English language home page and index of "Soviet Music."
http://www.sovmusic.ru/english/index.php
Some of my favorites below are under the site's titles (not the best translations in many cases) along with a few hundred songs of the revolution, the Great Patriotic War, the Soviet workers, etc., etc.
The Saint War/Священная Война (Rise up Huge Nation...)
Katyusha/Катюша
Varshavyanka/Варшавянка (Polish revolutionary workers' song)
Varyag/Варяг (Cruiser Varyag and its battle to the death with the Japanese)
Dark Night/Темная Ночь
Polyushko-Pole/Полюшко поле
The Soviet National Anthem (Stalin and later versions) and tons of other songs are listed with original lyrics and English translations.

I know one. It is from the 1980s, during the Afghan war. You may know it.

Blood Type
Translation by Marva
It's a warm place here but there on the street
Where our footprints are waited for
Star dust on our boots sparkles and shines
There's a cozy armchair with a checkered blanket
The trigger hasn't been pulled in time
Sunny days... in dazzling dreams
My blood type is marked on my sleeve,
My ordinal number is marked on my sleeve,
Wish me luck in the fight,
So I don't stay here in the grass
Wish me luck...
I can pay, but I don't want a victory at any cost
I don't want to put my foot on someone's chest
I would rather stay here with you,
Just to stay here with you,
But the star high in the sky is calling me on my way...
My blood type is marked on my sleeve,
My ordinal number is marked on my sleeve,
Wish me luck in the fight,
So I don't stay here in the grass
Wish me luck...

The Varshavianka is awesome! I like the instrumental version on that page better than the one with vocals.

Yeah, it's good. That sovmusic.ru website that Mikhail (3A CCCP) posted is very good overall, although they could include some selected pieces by the great Soviet composers such as Shostakovich and Prokofiev, especially those from the early years of the revolution when they were at their artistic peak. Then again, those are quite easy to find elsewhere.
One of my favourites on sovmusic is 'Night over Belgrade', which you'll find in the Lyrics About War section. It's sung by an actress called Tatyana Okunevskaya, and I believe it's taken from a movie. I hear Ms Okunevskaya was a real star in the Stalin era, but I found it impossible to find any detailed info or pictures of her on the web (image google will only spit out tons of miniature DVD covers which may or may not depict her). Mikhail, do you happen to have any info or pics of her?

Paul Robeson's English version of the Soviet Hymn is awesome! The sovmusic.ru website has the recording of the song and the English text. (Click "Internationale" on the index on the left side of the main page and it is a few songs down from the top.)
I copied the words below. One should realize that the words are a very loose translation since this was made to actually be sung in English by comrade Robeson. Also, this is the 1940s "Stalin" version. If anyone wants the literal translation I would be happy to translate it and post it on this thread.
Anthem of the USSR - English
Music: A.Alexandrov Lyrics: S. Mikhalkov
United Forever in Friendship and Labour,
Our mighty Republics will ever endure.
The Great Soviet Union will Live through the Ages.
The Dream of a People their fortress secure.
Long Live our Soviet Motherland,
Built by the People's mighty hand.
Long Live our People, United and Free.
Strong in our Friendship tried by fire.
Long may our Crimson Flag Inspire,
Shining in Glory for all Men to see.
Through Days dark and stormy where Great Lenin Led us
Our Eyes saw the Bright Sun of Freedom above.
And Stalin our Leader with Faith in the People,
Inspired us to Build up the Land that we Love.
Long Live our Soviet Motherland,
Built by the People's mighty hand.
Long Live our People, United and Free.
Strong in our Friendship tried by fire.
Long may our Crimson Flag Inspire,
Shining in Glory for all Men to see.
We fought for the Future, destroyed the invaders,
And Brought to our Homeland the Laurels of Fame.
Our Glory will live in the Memory of Nations
And All Generations will Honour Her Name.
Long Live our Soviet Motherland,
Built by the People's mighty hand.
Long Live our People, United and Free.
Strong in our Friendship tried by fire.
Long may our Crimson Flag Inspire,
Shining in Glory for all Men to see.

Varshavianka is one of my all time favorites. I prefer the vocalized version. It is really a powerful revolutionary workers' song!

Ha!
Stalinist illusions of grandeur.
I much prefer the Internationale. There was no reason to change the original anthem, except for the fact that Stalin didn't want international socialism.
But that is just my opinion.

I used to hear the "Hymn of the soviet union" and even translated it into Tagalog. But I always prefer the anthem of the world revolution, the Internationale.

Thanks for the link, comrade ! :)
I bookmarked it.
I like the 1972(?)-version of the Sovjet Anthem best.
