I used to really like IT, but all the 9/11 conspiracy crap, macho posturing and using the word "faggot" so much got really old and annoying. If you want revolutionary musicians, you can find far better ones than him.

Oh not this old argument about use of the word "faggot" again. Look you do realise that if we're going to build a revolution in the real world out of today's actually existing proletariat, it's going to comprise people with a lot of macho attitudes? Of course I am not arguing to not criticise this, but it always disheartens me to the see the number of "revolutionaries" who will simply walk away from any remotely proletarian setting altogether, because their soft hearts have been wounded by machismo, and then retreating to the world of art-house and indie. Yet, by walking away from a scene altogether, you haven't done much to influence attitudes within it!

In fact, IT is not necessarilly homophobic because he uses the word faggot, as he's quite clearly not refering to the gay community, but to other straight men. Now if you can show me a song where he has a clear line against the gay community, I would be more inclined to criticise him. As it is, yes, using the word faggot as a put-down does idnirectly reinforce egative stereotypes about homosexuals, and I don't support the fact that he says it, but that seems like a sad reason to dismiss someone who is out there making highly politicised and anti-capitalist music which actually has a chance of being related to by normal working class black kids in the US.
