I go to a high school with a uniform, but it's not as bad as catholic school uniforms (just collared shirts and pants with belts). The school tries to be tough, but the real slackers that go to the school just for sports get weak teachers while all the good teachers go to AP rather than try to aid the weaker students. Also their is a sticky floor like an elitist military selection. For example, my algebra I in 8th grade went way beyond what algebra I is in my highschool; and because i nearly failed 8th grade algebra, i went to algebra I again and now cant take any APs in math or science. Since the school cannot communicate to everyone effectively i never found out about letters of intent for honors and as a result cannot take any honors classes. :cursing:
Although public school is an option all the rich people live in a county that has no public schools ( I think, only private) the surrounding public schools do not get any tax money from the richer half of the state. In the end even the private schools cannot live up to their own goals even though everyone gets accepted to a college, only less than 1/3 pass the first semester of college :cursing:
So the schools in my areas are more military in the sense of training massive amounts of people inadequately as if a massive draft was going on and school administrators that constantly try and sometimes succeed to strip the students of identity and education. :cursing:
(sorry for the venting) by the way the county is fauquier county Nothern Virginia (DC influenced)

School and the military just don't compare; education is possibly the most vital part of society. Yes, schools could be improved, and religious schools should be kicked out the window, but you sound like a whiney student.
As for uniforms, I've heard studies saying they're beneficial, and some saying they aren't. Can't be bothered to find either at the moment.

He does have somewhat of a point I wouldn't go so far as to call it military but I have noticed some things in my high-school I would consider brainwashing. Example:This was 2 years ago) When I was learning about WWII I was told that the U.S was completely unexpectedly bombed by Japan and basically we did nothing to provoke it, I was also told that Hitler killed 10 Million Jewish people and learned nothing else about WWII. So I did some reading of course and figured out that we cut of Japans supply lines of oil and metal, and we knew the attacks were coming long before they hit Pearl Harbor, Plus I learned not near as many Jews were killed and just as many Homosexuals, Gypsies, Handicapped, and other religions were killed and I also learned the WONDERFUL U.S's part in the whole thing. (I didn't even learn about Stalin in my school....)
..(Svante maybe you need to pay extra special attention in English class)

Not even I knew that part about supply lines being cut.
also 26 million Soviets died which is equal to about 1/4th of Greater Germany's population (88 million)

Conspiracy theory time!
now I doubt the capitalists are this smart but just in case...
The Americans cut Japenese supply lines so they got attacked which was of U.S intention giving the U.S an excuse for aiding Nationalist China which was under Japenese attack which in turn the Nationalist Chinese used that money to fight the Communist Chinese.
Plausible or Fiction?

what do you need highschool for anyway?
we only should learn how to read and write and then learn how a profession with someone who already does it (I believe it's called 'internship' orso (stage in dutch))

Yes, however the chances in ancient Greece whether riddled by class, so in a free society everyone could have the chance to study philosophy. So, where would all these philosophers going to appear from? Will they give a decent education on the subject or just recruit then as their ideological predecessor?

That is the single stupidest idea I've heard today; we need more education, not less. Grow up.

O.o your countries curriculum needs to be fixed; you need to be taught about those, but others as well.

Learning about society is what they're meant to do; they're not indoctrination programs, bent on pulling people into the left or right. If your schools really so bad as that, go to a different one and notify your coutries' board of education.

The young are the most easily manipulated and Svante is talking about the censorship that is manipulating the people in his school. They learn about beneficial catholic figures to make Catholicism look compassionate. The tricky part of undoing censorship is getting into Parent Teacher Organizations and see if anyone else feels the same way you do and make a following in the school. Because you go to a Catholic school, if it is not state run, then the government would not need to get involved with your movement. Once you have a following you can have student protests, etc. to change the injustice of brainwashing via censorship. (That's how I would do it)
Svante do you learn about the Spanish Inquisition in your school and how much in depth does your school cover the inquisition?
