I have no idea whether or not anybody will remember me: my absence has been quite long.

I am a revleft old-timer. My last post was in December of 2005. When I joined, it was still che-lives.

Anyhow, I don't remember why I stopped posting, but I've been busy. I've gone back to school. I've found and lost love. I've begun a new career. I have been without the internet for ages (and I'm not sure I'll have it consistently yet). I have aged in two and a half years.

My political views have shifted over this time; both at once more militant and more pacifistic. More aggressive and more passive.
I used to be more of a communist, but now I see myself as more of a socialist (forgive me if your opinions differ.)

I will see everybody around the old forums, not least the Spanish forum. Some of my fondest memories are rooted there, and I find that I have forgotten so very much of that beautiful language. I hope to be near-fluent again very shortly.

It is good to be back.

What do you mean by socialist? A modern social democrat (social liberal)? A reformist? A marxist (communist)?

Long answer:
Rather then struggle for the classless, stateless society that I one did, I have decided that these are facts of life.
Perhaps one day, this goal can be reached, but as of today, with the exceptions of extremely small groups (such as nomadic peoples) I do not see classes going away nor a stateless society as a realistic goal.

Now we could go into discussion for days and get nowhere, but I prefer now to turn my attention to the more manageable goals of equality and the common ownership of the means of production.

People want to divide themselves into groups such as classes, races, or genders. The human race has an unquenchable desire to label. So be it, as long as these different groups are given the same rights (suffrage, homosexual unions, etc.) Therefore a true democracy, not the western facade must be established.
In addition to this, the means of production should be shared. This too is a realistic goal; in Scandinavia is well on the way.

First, a society must grant universal rights. Only then can sharing the means of production be possible.

After this, classes will start to merge into one, and only then can I see the prospect of a classless, stateless society even becoming plausible.

I see socialism as humanity's best bet while communism (true communism) as an unobtainable dream hundreds, even thousands of years out of reach.

Short answer:
Go ahead and call me whatever you want, I just believe in a government-controlled economy under a universally-controlled government.
