Last week, when I was at the train station, the board said that international trains to Belgium and France weren't running due to strikes. Does anyone know what's up?

In Belgium there was a one day strike. Recently there's been a whole wave of train strikes.

A 24-hour strike was announced because workers and management couldn't get along. The workers demanded higher wages, while the management wanted to keep the wages as stable as possible (a minimum but insufficient raise was allowed), a growth of productivity and more preparations for the coming liberalisation.

In France public transport went on strike to counter Sarkozy's new attacks on their welfare. Thousands went on the streets.
