I am beginning to read some of his stuff and am very interested by what he has to say. I saw him on the CBC today in an interview on a show the "Hot Type" (plug) and found him well hearsed in the arena of speech and was further impressed. He did sound like a broken record at times, but I am sure that was a measure of the limited nature of the questions and his new book 9-11. Also, what writers have you guys come across that write in favour of American foreign action? I think he mentioned this bro Caplan?? who extolls the virtues of the States, much like CI.

I like him. He's more of an anarchist than a socialist, but his writing on US foreign policy and the media is very good. One thing about Chomsky is that he doesn't always draw you a picture, but after reading him you can see that there is a definite philosophical unity to his works.

Do you mean Lawrence Kaplan, a senior editor at "The New Republic?" I don't know much about him, really, but he seems to be for a strong US-interventionist military agenda.

He's a voice of reason for many people out there. I admire his analyses, particularly when it comes to linguistics and his theories on the study of language.

Like it says in the books, in a saner world, he should've received the Nobel Peace Prize, instead of people like Henry Kissinger.

Chomsky's excellent. I find his stuff slightly harder to get into at times, although it is superbly written. He also seems to to evidence his sources well, which further helps strengthen his arguments. I have also liked what I have read of Monbiot recently, he's a regular Guardian columnist. Although he is not as well versed in linguistics, I feel he's the kind of writer that can really win you over, and argue a case regardless of your level of thinking. However, Chomsky goes so in depth with the issues that trouble him, and I always try to read his point of view, for the best researched, and well worded essays, I really admire the guy.

I just finished 9-11, much of it I have read and come across in other articles, yet, a scholar of his level is sure to be noticed, especially when this book is sitting at the top of many top 10 booklists throughout north america. Soon enough, the dialougue that takes place in this book will become more and more common in our psyche, that being said, more and more will come to recognize that the US has been and still is just as much a higher threat to world peace as many other countries.
