Iran Says U.S. Is Exploiting 9/11
By ALI AKBAR DAREINI
.c The Associated Press
TEHRAN, Iran (Sept. 8) - Iran chided the United States for what it sees as its failure to recognize Iran's counterterrorism efforts and accused Washington of using terrorist tactics itself.
"America's approach since Sept. 11 has been to fight terrorism through the use of force and violence, the same language used by terrorists,'' Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi said at a news conference on Sunday.
Kharrazi said U.S. policies have promoted "global insecurity, anti-Islamic sentiments and clashes among cultures.''
The Iranian chief diplomat accused the U.S. administration of using the attacks as a pretext to settle accounts with countries that disagree with Washington's policies.
``They did that in the name of fighting terrorism and that was a great mistake,'' he said.
Kharrazi also criticized what he described as U.S. failure to recognize Iran's ``sincere contribution in fighting terrorism.''
``We supported the return of stability in Afghanistan, encouraged Afghan groups to support the interim government and arrested al-Qaida suspects entering Iran. Instead of praising our efforts, America named Iran part of an 'axis of evil,''' he said.
The minister said Iran has arrested and deported anybody who has links with al-Qaida and will continue its crackdown on other suspects if information is available.
``We will continue our efforts (against al-Qaida) in spite of the country's long borders with Afghanistan which makes the mission more difficult,'' he said.
Kharrazi accused the U.S. administration of supporting local Afghan terrorist groups against Iran.
``We have solid evidence that America is in contact with local Afghan terrorist groups on our border organizing them against Iran's interests,'' he said, without elaboration.

While I'm still gonna remain skeptical of anything anyone says, I think Iran is in the right on this one. Bush is a fuckin dipshit. Naming off Iran and North Korea as an Axis of Evil, jesus that shit pisses me off.

Amen,i agree 100% with that MS,they have the utter ignorance to destroy nations that dont think in the same way they do.
& calling a nation with diferent policies in economics,"evil".
thats both hypocritical & sick.

Good, more people should stand up to the US. Not meaning to be horrible but what percentage of people on 9-11 (or 11-9) died a a consequence of terrorist actions in the US?

Good for Iran. I'm expecting the US to totally exploit Sep 11 (incidently my birthday-16 tomorrow!) to it's limit. I was listening to Radio 4 a few weeks ago, and some woman made a huge mistake in my opinion. She said that the outpourings of grief after the tragedy (and it was, cos it's not nice when anyone dies, even capitalists, if it's not completely necessary) were for the US, but I disagree, I think it was for the people who died and their families. It could be debated that the whole thing was necessary because it did, to an extent, wake America up to the fact that they aren't as safe as they thought they were, but I don't think it's succeeded very well.
"America's approach since Sept. 11 has been to fight terrorism through the use of force and violence, the same language used by terrorists,'' Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi said at a news conference on Sunday.
This sounds a bit like what my mum said (as much as I dislike agreeing with her, occasionally she speaks remarkable sense for a conservative capi!). She said that we would fight terroism better by dopping food parcels and helping inside the countries with education, health, etc, but not treading on anyone's toes.
Well the "wise" leaders of the West have messed it up again. I'm jsut relieved that iran will continue to help, while being told they are "evil"!!!!

EEEAAK! I bet your 15'th birthday was a grave event. :(
I hope your able to have a happy sweet sixteen regardless.
As for if killing several thousand people on Sept 11 2001, was benficial to the world, well I don't see how. I don't think that all those fire fighters, police men, secriteries, resturaunt workers, general office workers, etc... deserved to die for the simple crime of living in a fucked up countery. That notion is obsured. And, what good has it done in the world? It's only caused more war and bloodshead, not more peace, brotherhood and understanding.
I don't see how causing people to huddle around their stupid little flags, could be conscived as "waking up America."
Americans by and large are blind to what the Government is doing domesticly. To think that a tramatic event like that would somehow cause them to be more awair of what the Government is doing outside it's boarders is... well... not realistic.

My 15th wasn't too bad actually, we kinda forgot aobut the whole thing and just rolled around on the grass and ate chocolate cake (ask GR if he remembers it.)
However, I digress. The american government must have realised a bit that they are not so indestructible (it's not quite the word i'm looking for but it will have to do). I don't get that government, or any government really. America's government should be much more honest with it's people, I have a thing aobut truth, the public never know what's going on.
I'm wainting to see what the fron page of the mail looks like tomorrow, that should be interesting. Everyone tell me how people react near you to the one year anniversary.

I'm so glad a country stood up to the U.S. We've been using this as a propaganda campaign to kill innocent people.

And for standing up, it will be invaded and destroyed by the United States. How long before they come for your country.

It is funny. The US loves to milk things to the point where they have no juice left. And then when nothing is left, the US finds something *shocking* that hadn't been said before about the event. How many times will we continue using Pearl Harbor/USS Maine like events (which we almost always know about before hand) to get free reign of the globe.
