if any further indication were needed of the degeneration Frank Furedi's Revolutionary Communist Party and its subsequent libertarian offshoots, then this one is a gem: Munira Mirza, of the Manifesto club, a "radical" group borne out of the British Revolutionary Communist Party - has accepted a job as cultural advisor to Boris Johnson. Mirza is famous for arguing that racism in the UK is greatly overstated. The"radical" Manifesto Club also threw up Martin Durkin, who came up with the "documentary" The Great Global Warming Swindle: http://www.channel4.com/science/microsites/G/great_global_warming_swindle/
Perhaps she will fight as bravely alongside Boris in resisting the same nefarious liberal interests which lie behind promoting multi-cultural politcal correctness as comrade Durkin did against the eco-fascists.

 Coming from Frank Furedi, that question takes on an almost existential quality, doesn't it?
I think Spiked (which is also associated with the RCP groupies) magazine has one or two interesting insights, and Brendan O'Neill is an interesting journalist. And I think their scepticism over "Ecology" adds an interesting slant to the debate and is one that shouldn't be easily dismissed.

Unfortunately, this is not very surprising. But I'm sure we'll soon get the lowdown from Vanguard1917, explaining neatly that Boris is actually progressive, global warming is a scam and anti-fascist activity is useless.
Still, Spiked do have some very thought-provoking articles from time to time. Some just raise my eyebrow, but others are pretty good.
This is just an attempt to smear spiked-online by association, the fact that someone who writes for them occasionally is a member of the same think tank as someone who works for Boris Johnson (and, in case you didn't get it, thats what the connection entails, its not like Frank Furedi works for Johnson nor do any of his immediate political associates) is immaterial.
Its somewhat like Hilary Clinton pointing out that Barak Obama had some sort of friendship with William Ayers at some point; that hardly reveals Obama's revolutionary Marxist tendencies.

well it will be interesting to see if the Manifesto Club kicks out Mirza, won't it?
Also the fact that two members of this small group have already gone on to make lucrative money within the whole media/consultancy scene is quite telling.

Nope, that's the Revolutionary Communist Group.

There's nothing progressive about Boris Johnson; but then there was nothing progressive about Ken Livingstone either, and various individuals on the left didn't exactly shy away from associating themselves and their campaigns with him.
With Boris Johnson, as has been pointed out in spiked, it's going to be business as usual, with continued New Labourite state intrusion into our lives (see his banning of drinking on public transport, for example), anti-development green policies (his opposition to the expansion of Heathrow airport), and bureaucratic and cowardly micro-management of London life.
See: Will the real Boris please stand up? (http://www.spiked-online.com/index.php?/site/article/5090/) and London's illiberal, intolerant new rulers (http://www.spiked-online.com/index.php?/site/article/5143/)
