So is Mike Tyson, the boxer, a communist? He has Mao and Che tats and appartently read Mao while in prison for rape. I googled this question and got mixed answers. So....

He might believe in it, but he sure doesn't live it, he's a very decadent individual. How can someone who's made millions go broke? I don't care how much money he got frauded, he lived a very decadent lifestyle and spent himself broke

you can be a communsit and be religious.
as for living a decadent lifestyle: yeah, he came from the wrong side of the tracks in a decadent society, and he made the grade in one of the ways out for people in his position. he made a lot of cash, and spent it, due to being damn good (well actually he probably wasn't the msot skilledboxer, buthe was brave and had a good punch) at highly explotiative sport, where basically big business makes huge money from charging white middle class people to watch black guys beat the shit out of other brutally.
does Tyson exploit anyone? no.
do I begrudge him the way he has lived? not really. he remindsme of Deigo Maradona.
is he a communist? he's a sympathiser with the broad idea of struggle by oppressed groups, due to being from one himself etc. he is also a big admirer of Argentina and Diego Maradona
all in all Tyson knew the rules of the soceity he was born on the margins of, and played by them. There ya go, at least he never forgot his roots like some from those backgrounds who become successful, like Pele or Frank Bruno the working class black British boxer and Tory voter.
He's also religious.
So in answer to your question... no.

One of my favourite fighters of all time, but i don't know much about his political beliefs, nor do i care much to be honest. I wouldn't expect them to be very consistent or coherent. I remember watching a documentary about when he visited England after prison, prayed at some mosque, and then went out to do some serious shopping and clubbing.
you can be a communsit and be religious.
I don't think that's a correct statement. You can be involved in progressive movements and be religious. But you can't have communist consciousness while upholding religious beliefs and other forms of ruling class morality/ideology.
