If you like Hunter S., check out Oscar Zeta Acosta, the guy on whom Dr. Gonzo was based: His semi-autobiographical novel The Revolt of the Cockroach People is both funny and anarcho-socialist.

I love Hunter S. Thompson. He's probably the reason I started getting more into political theory since he was not afraid to show how bullshit American politics were and are. I cried a lot the day he killed himself. :crying:

Absolutely love the movie. It's good when sober, but it's brilliant when you're toasted.
The soundtrack is pretty good too.

Hunter was one of us. Only someone like us could write a book called "Better than sex: confessions of a politics junkie".
He was definitely left leaning and his writings on politics are hatefilled and brilliant. I'm now in the middle of "Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72" and it's fantastic. I think it will round out every one of his books that I've read and I've enjoyed them all; even and especially when sober.

The film is hard not to like. Although watching it drunk is not recomended.
