I'm thinking of starting an all-ireland socialist technocracy party to promote the interests of socialism from a new perspective and to combat the rising reactionary ****ism that is prevailant on both sides of the community.

Is anyone with me?

Question, will this group extend only to those currently in Ireland, or will it also extend to those planning immigration to Ireland in the future, and also to those in Solidarity with the Irish? Because currently I'm not in Ireland, but I do feel strongly attatched, because many of my ancestors were Irish, and I might immigrate to Ireland in the future, but even if I don't, I will still work with and help the Irish groups legitimately working for a united, Marxist Ireland, free from imperialist rule. -Joe

All solidarity wether direct or indirect would be grately welcomed. Ultimately it would be a small part of a pan global agenda, but for the immediate future it would be instrumental to promoting the interests of a socialist technocracy within the island of ireland.

If you are planning to come to ireland, then of course your direct contribution would be more than welcomed. The reason i am thinking of doing this is because i feel that the traditional socialist groups (especially in the north) have failed to connect with people outside the nationalist strata so a fresh perspective is greatly needed. Please bear in mind that this still in the stage of being an 'idea in my head' so i cant physically do anything without a substantial amount of willing contributors!

reactionary ****ism is well known to me, Sinn Fein i call it.I'm all with the idea in your head ulster comrade, though technocracy is not something i've looked up. but the working classes have killed and died and served time and buried comrades family lovers on both sides of the nationalist/unionist republican/loyalist manipulated conflict, while the chuckle brothers and their ilk are dressed in Armani. war profiteers, both financially and status wise.it can't be a co-incidence that the Connollyite wing NEVER dominates...it has to have been privately agreed in advance between 'our' reactionary ****s, their Fianna Fail fans and 'your' reactionary ****s and their Brit fans....if your class consciousness means the most to you then you're my comrade.

Technocracy is a progressive ideaology with certain principles similar to communism, the difference being it applies means of planning which answer the critics of egalitarian running. I am attempting to marry this with marxist principle in order to create a workable set of ideas. You should browse the HPG boards if you'd like to learn more.

As for the soverignty issue, that really comes down to you asking me my personal opinion since this isnt an actual party yet but I'm guessing the line will be predominantly sympathetic to nationalism in the immediate perspective since i doubt many die-hard unionists would take an interest in the technocratic mandate. However in the broader perspective, I'd like to see an agenda moving towards creating a united continental form of governance, not just an Irish one.

With all due respect US, the various socialist parties on the island have a hard enough time gathering support as it is. Is another party really going to solve anything? Why not join one of the existing groups? I know they may not be technocratic, but that doesn't mean you can't be if you join one.

I think a lot of reason that classical marxist parties have failed to gain support is down to ideological reasons. Especially in Norn Iron, people have the mentality to be especially cynical if something has a bad reputation.

It is difficult to work with some socialists because often they have wildly differing ideas that bear too much resembleance to tried, tested and failed means of socialist planning.

I think it is important to get behind the technocratic mandate because IMO it has more to offer in terms of answering it's critics.

You probably disagree but that's just my take.

I am considering it. Being a technocrat, I think some of my theories on labour may be regarded with hostility though. This is part of the reason why i think a new party is needed (apart from the fact that other left wing parties have failed to transcend the green/orange divide).
