Everyone knows that our nation isn't perfect. But can we really say that it hasn't progressed under capitalism.

What progress?
People are working longer hours for the same amount of wages since the seventies.
What do you call progress?

- Slavery abolished
- women earned right to vote in 1920
- Child labor now illegal
- education reforms
- Labor reforms
the list goes on

The progression is there. your just not looking.

The only points valid are one through three, and yet none of them have anything to do with capitalism.

lol. Your right they have nothing to do with capitalism, but alot to do with our governmental system, and they go hand and hand.

heres one though:
sweat shop labor in foreign countrys has lessend, and is next to non existent in the U.S.

Labor reforms generalize (unions, minimum wage, monopolys, etc) which i think have something to do with capitalism.

Where is the proof?

Unions have diminished over the years.

The proof is on the back of peoples cars as bumper stickers "proud to be a union member of (then job title)"

Proof is dividing microsoft and other companies up to avoid unfair advantages over small business

Proof is There used to BE NO MINIMUM WAGE and now there is on (it used to be legal to pay children .15 cents an hour working all day shifts. There is talk about increasing minimum wages from 5.15 to 6.15 and hour. A small increase but a start.

"During the 50's some workers worked five-and-a-half-day weeks.... Equal pay was still a far off dream.... Average pay was 25$ a week which seemed like good money to the rest of the world.

You take bumper stickers as the welfare of a union? http://www.bladegash.net/forums/images/smilies/newlaugh.gif

a) That has nothing to do with sweat shop labor
B) Microsoft is nothing compared to the corprate scandals robbing people of money (AOL, anyone?)
c) Minimum wage has nothing to do with capitalism

-You brought up minimum wages not me.
-AOL is shit, everyone knows that. there are hundreds of ISP's which aren't suffering from AOL-
-Sweat shop LABOR has alot to do with LABOR REFORMS.
- The bumper stickers represent that the unioins exist. We have all seen strikes thats pretty clear evidence of UNIONS.

You could say the same thing about Microsoft, and AOL is also Time Warner, which is the monopoly.

Thanks for the input.

That has nothing to do with how well they do.

"That has nothing to do with how well they do."

They wouldn't EXIST if they didnt do well at all.

"You could say the same thing about Microsoft, and AOL is also Time Warner, which is the monopoly."

Time Warner is an affiliate of microsoft, that doesn't necessarily mean there is a monopoly.

"Thanks for the input."
Your welcome

No you really didn't. Or if you did it must be in the most concise form possible, which is inadequate.

That is up for you to decide.
