All right, you've heard this before, I've said this a thousand fucking times, but I'm going to say it again: It's time for a free Cambodia, people.
Actually, I've never said it, :), but, the fuck? I'm ready, let's do it; pack your gear.
There's a gentleman from Lowell MA, his name is Sang Thach and he's a member of the Cambodian parliament. A few months ago he founded a movement called the "Krom National Liberation Front".
Guess what their deal is? :)
This guy is for real. When he was a teen, he learned that the land where he grew up was actually Cambodian territory, until 53 years ago when the Viet Nam gov came marching in, and we all know what happened next. Now, from around the world (Lowell is a suburb of Boston) he's organinzing a sesession movement from the apartment he shares with his wife and two kids. These guys have offices in 10 US states, and organized a thousand-person demonstration in Phnom Penh a few months ago. They have their own flag and their own constitution, and have warned the Vietnamese gov to return Kampuchea Krom to the Cambodians "or else."
They're taking him seriously, and my favorite quote from the article I got this all from in Thursday's Boston Globe is from Kanharith Khieu, a gov spokesman who said, "It's not a problem unless he shows up with an army here." :)
His people are 8 to 12 million strong, the paper said.
He said they'll use violence if they have to. I say, "Game on." This guy, with his rage (he's got a tattoo on each hand, one says "revenge", the other saiys "sad"), his determination, and his "peeps", he could be a major player on the "revolution circuit" in years to come.
