I have a suspicion that glamgirl is fictional, that she's someone from here having a spot of fun. I may be wrong and I may be right, and that's just the thing, isn't it? We don't know.

Nateddi, that's actually a good question for a thread, but I see what you're doing.

Anyway, my answer would be, off the top of my head, that the relationship between human beings in a late capitalist society revolves around a cash nexus. No longer are we "human" beings but "capital" beings, defined not by any human standard but only by our possessions (there's a bit more, of course, about commodity fetishism, but that's enough for this thread).

If this is true, then material wealth is the defining truth for people living in a late capitalist society, and the only truth which is allowed that is complimentary, and complicit with, the ruling ideology of the times.

That's my quick two cents,

WEll, I guess you need the perspective of age to see how harmless and great she is. Great in that she is not pregnant, drug-addicted, sucking dick, skipping school or just being existentially anti-social. There's something wrong with that. do you think I don't wanna just have a normal group of friends and enjoy life?

I can't do that, I moe every fuckin two years, I'm constantly having to adjust to new situations. I've never had friends long enough t be normal.

I've had to entertain myself for most of my life.

But you know what? I'm not a normal kid, I don't care about school and dances and malls.

Thats great some alot of kids can be care free, but I'm not one of them.

I love politics, I love reading and I love thinking. I'm not serious all the time, but thats just how I am.

My life hasn't been steady enough for me to be a normal kid.

I have NO friends...save those who are over the age of 18....I have NO hobbies...save computer and tv and politics...I have NO social life....save the yawns and "go aways" I donot wish to change myself for that would be a waste of a different personality...too many clones of clones of clones of somebody I probably hate. So there is nothing else that interests me more than politics. Are you telling me to give blowjobs and shop at malls like all the other kids my age AND YOUNGER...atleast in california, I don't know how corrupt or how informed you or the area you live in are but you may be oblivious to alot. Its not that I can't make friends, (years of moving makes me good at that) but I never stay in a place long.

So unlike alot of kids I don't have anyone I grew up with. I never have real friends that I can confide in.

If it wasn't for my brother I'd go crazy.

but I mean alot of kids grew up with a really good friend, I go to schools were people already know each oter.

Alot of kids I know aren't interested in somethings I am but It would be nice to stay in one place for a while

It's a good motivator. People want things so they try and get them. It's all right as long as its within the law. Your boss may fire you but that's alright. He's the owner of the business and he has every right to fire you. Yes, it may harm you finacially but, you are still free to go and find a job elswhere.

not quite what I meant. I'm talking about how workers are treated...such as old workers cut just before they are eligible for pension to save the company money, using sweatshop labor, etc.

I'm not saying an employer can't fire someone if he wants, but it has to be for good reason
