Hey all you cappies... and commies... and whoever else reads this thread... answer me this, does the green of the american paper currency symbolize the green from the olive branch of democracy of freedom? or the green of greed and imperialism?
Green is only associated with greed because of its the color of american money.

What I found about the origins of the color green in American money goes like this:
1) The pigment green was readily available
2) Photography was the most common form of counterfieting money in the 1800s. The color green would not show up as green in a photograph.
3) A protective ink that could not be counterfieted was developed by Tracey R. Edson who later founded the American Bank Note Company. He choose green for this color.
4) Uniformity.

How, does green represent uniformity?

regardless of its color, the dollar represents great opportunity, and just reward for personal achievement, 2 fundamental guiding principles of capitalism

"Green is only associated with greed because of its the color of american money."
Well, hmmm. Shakespeare associated green with envy, calling it the green sickness, and with jealousy, calliing it the green-eyed monster. While not specifically about greed, it goes to showing that green was associated with related human conditions.

No shit vox. Colors have literary associations. Like white is good, black is bad/evil, blue is sad, etc.
But green is not greed (unless you are talking about American Literature post 1800s when green became associated with green because of the dollar--not the other way around)
sick disco-green does not represent uniformity--if all the bills are green then they are of a uniform color.

Green is typically associated with growth and life.
What confuses me is why there is a note for such a small amount of money

Its easy to talk shit about US foreign policy as long as your car is still running.
You have no concept of how petrroleum bebefits you daily.
The US maintaining a security interest in world oil sources is a good thing.

I don't own a car... and I am colour blind too
I own a car ( a 97 Accord to be exact). Now tell me, how does the war on terrorism benefit me? Especially since I am one of the enemy (a socialist of Lebanese descent). Is the war putting gas in my car?
