I've always been curious how international fraternal relations develop between World Communist Parties.
Its a fairly straight-foward story up till the 1960s. Most of the Comintern partes were answers to Lenin's 1919 appeal and aligned with the Comintern.
But the period after the Sino-Soviet split is interesting. With Parties competing for "the Chinese franchise". Its probably an interesting story how the Chinese franchise as acquired considering the CP (M-L) was a tiny organization and China was still unrecognized.
The CPUSA and CPC fell into each others arms in the late 1980s with Khruschovism and radical Maoism both in decline.
Then there are the interesting stories about the "hoax" organizations that established fraternal relations. One in the Ukraine and the other in Netherlands.
Workers World is of some interest, since they are a semi-Trot organization that has relations with Cuba, DPR Korea, and Vietnam.
The whole business of "franchise parties" can get silly especially in the 1970s where there was actually competition over Albania and Romania. But on the other hand Marxists take no shame in their internationalism. Still blindly following foreign models alienates the working class, and also leads to tactical errors.
Its interesting how tiny Parties in the west can establish relations with some pretty significant international parties and movements.
Anyway if anyone has information on how fraternal relations are set up, or thoughts in general, please respond.
