Of the Great Patriotic War!
Dear fellow countrymen!
Respected foreign guesta!
Today we mark the holiday most near and dear to our heart - the Day
of Victory.
Sixty three years ago the peoples of the Soviet Union defended the
freedom of the Fatherland. They saved millions of residents of
Europe and the world from slavery and physical destruction in the
gas chambers, concentration camps, and ghettos. They freed the
world of an evil disease.
We never divided this victory into "ours" and "theirs." And we
always wil remember the assistance of the allies - the nations of
the anti-Hitler coalition, participants in the movement of
resistance, all those who fought against Nazism.
But, we remember that the most decisive events that decided the
course of this war unfolded in particular on the territory of the
USSR. And that here, in particular, the Hitler war machine first
was halted, and then forced to retreat.
And the glorious sons and daughters of the peoples of the Soviet
Union destroyed the hated enemy in his own lair.
We bow before the world renowned-historical greatness of the feats
of the heroes of the Great Patriot War.
Belarus, as has happened numerous times in history, was the first to
receive the blow of the invaders. It was a living shield on the
invaders road, interfering with the plans of the lightening war.
In the battle with the enemy we took the biggest losses among all the
Soviet Republics
In the flame of war burned up the lives and fates of every third
Byelorussian. Over 800,000 soldiers and officers from Byelorussia
perished on the front. The Hitlerites destroyed over 2,200,000
inhabitants of our country. More than 380,000 were driven into
slavery.
The occupiers entirely destroyed more than 5,000 inhabited sites.
In that number were 209 cities and towns. 628 villages were burned
to the ground along with their inhabitants.
But the brutality of these animals did not break the will of our
people to resist.
On the occupied territory of Belarus unfolded an unheard of in size
movement of resistance. In the ranks of the people's avengers rose
more than 400,000 courageous partisans who did not give the enemy
rest day or night.
We will never forget what losses paid for our Victory.
And each year on the 9th of May we will mourn the fallen, remember
the war that appeals to our reason.
It obligates us to strive for the highest responsibility and forces
us to think deeper about the edge of the horrible abyss that the
world stood on at that time. With the monstrous results of
force and racial intolerance, genocide, and despising of people.
I call for a minute of silence to honor the memory of all the heroes
and martyrs.
(Minute of silence. Only the metronome is heard.)
Analysing the lessons of the Great Patriotic War, we come to the
main conclusion: it is necessary by all possible means not to allow a
repeat of the tragedy.
Unfortunately, the 21st century has not brought mankind an end to
war. The reality of armed conflicts has been radically
transformed. But, from this they have become more destructive and
deadly.
And today there are numerous factors that are capable of bringing
the world to the spark of a new world conflagration.
On the planet a huge arsenal of nuclear weapons and
other types of weapons of mass destruction has been built up.
Certain countries, picturing themselves as superpowers, allow
themselves to interfere in the internal affairs of sovereign
states. And as a means of getting the last word they use military force.
The activity of NATO is growing. Into its ranks are being absorbed
new members from the former Socialist states. In the center of
Europe they are installing elements of the American system of
strategic anti-missile defense.
Someone is trying to reexamine the results of the Second World War.
To remake the map of Europe.
The attempts at dictating and economic blackmail have been used more
than once against the sovereign and independent state of Belarus.
But, no one and nothing will force us to leave our chosen path and
bow down to a foreign will.
Our country clearly maintains the course of good neighborly
relations. The building of a mutli-polar world. We strictly follow
the principles of international law in our relations with other
states.
We are building our politics on the ideals of freedom, the right of
each state to independently chose its path of development, on the
trust and search of civilized perspectives for all peoples.
Peace, stability, and security are guaranteed in Belarus.
And it will be this way going forward. The Armed Forces of Belarus
stand on guard at the borders of our Fatherland.
Dear veterans!
Receive our enormous gratitude and lowest bow on this holiday - for
the peaceful sky above our head, for freedom and happiness.
Belarus will always remember your feat. It isn't by chance that
among the participants of the march today there are so many children and
young people. In their glistening eyes and hearts live the happy,
victorious spirit of that far off spring of 1945.
I am confidant that our children, grandchildren, and great
grandchildren will preserve and multiple the traditions of bravery
and glory passed on to them by the generation of the victors.
On this holiday with all my spirit I congratulate you, the
inhabitants and guests of our excellent Motherland, with the bright
holiday of the Victory.
I wish you strong health, peace, happiness, and growth. Live long!

Дорогие соотечественники!
Уважаемые зарубежные гости!
Сегодня мы отмечаем самый дорогой и близкий сердцу праздник - День
Победы.
Шестьдесят три года назад народы Советского Союза отстояли свободу
Отечества. Спасли миллионы жителей Европы и мира от порабощения и
физического уничтожения в газовых камерах, концлагерях и гетто.
Освободили мир от коричневой чумы.
Мы никогда не делили эту победу на свою и чужую. И всегда будем
помнить помощь союзников - стран антигитлеровской коалиции,
участников движения сопротивления. Всех, кто сражался с нацизмом.
Но мы помним и то, что самые решающие события, определяющие исход
этой войны, разворачивались именно на территории СССР. И что именно
здесь гитлеровская военная машина впервые забуксовала, а затем
вынуждена была повернуть вспять.
И доблестные сыны и дочери народов Советского Союза добили
ненавистного врага в его собственном логове.
Мы преклоняемся перед всемирно-историческим величием ратных
свершений героев Великой Отечественной.
Беларусь, как это уже не раз было в истории, первой приняла на себя
удар захватчиков. Стала живым щитом на их пути, сорвав планы
молниеносной войны.
В борьбе с врагом мы понесли самый большой урон среди всех
советских республик.
В огне войны сгорели жизни и судьбы каждого третьего белоруса.
Более 800 тысяч солдат и офицеров из Беларуси погибли на фронте.
Гитлеровцы уничтожили более 2 миллионов 200 тысяч жителей нашей
страны. Свыше 380 тысяч угнали в рабство.
Оккупанты полностью разрушили более пяти тысяч населенных пунктов,
в том числе 209 городов и поселков. 628 деревень были сожжены дотла
вместе с их жителями.
Но зверства карателей не сломили волю наших людей к сопротивлению.
На оккупированной территории Беларуси развернулось небывалое по
масштабам движение сопротивления. В строй народных мстителей встали
свыше 400 тысяч мужественных патриотов, которые ни днем, ни ночью не
давали покоя врагу.
Мы никогда не забудем, какими жертвами оплачена наша Победа.
И каждый год 9 Мая будем скорбеть о погибших, помня о войне,
которая взывает к нашему разуму.
Она обязывает нас к высочайшей ответственности и заставляет глубже
осознать, на краю какой ужасной бездны стоял тогда мир. Какими
чудовищными последствиями может обернуться насилие и расовая
нетерпимость, геноцид и надругательство над людьми.
Предлагаю почтить память всех героев и мучеников минувшей войны
минутой молчания.
(Минута молчания. Звучат удары метронома.)
Анализируя уроки Великой Отечественной, мы делаем главный вывод:
необходимо всеми возможными средствами не допустить повторения
трагедий.
К сожалению, двадцать первый век не принес человечеству избавления
от войны. Сущность вооруженных конфликтов радикально
трансформировалась. Но от этого они не стали менее разрушительными и
гибельными.
И сегодня есть немало факторов, которые способны привести к вспышке
нового мирового пожара.
На планете накоплены огромные арсеналы ядерного и других видов
оружия массового поражения.
Отдельные страны, возомнившие себя сверхдержавами, позволяют себе
вмешиваться во внутренние дела суверенных государств. А в качестве
последнего аргумента используют военную силу.
Возрастает активность блока НАТО. В его ряды вовлекаются новые
члены из числа бывших социалистических государств. В центре Европы
размещаются элементы американской системы стратегической
противоракетной обороны.
Кое-кто пытается пересмотреть итоги Второй мировой войны.
Перекроить карту Европы.
Попытки диктата и экономического шантажа не раз предпринимались и в
отношении суверенной и независимой Беларуси. Но никто и ничто не
заставит нас свернуть с избранного пути. Подчиниться чужой воле.
Наша страна четко выдерживает курс добрососедства. Построения
многополярного мира. Строгого соблюдения принципов международного
права в отношениях между государствами.
Мы строим свою политику на идеалах свободы, на праве каждого из
государств самостоятельно выбирать свой путь развития. На доверии и
поиске цивилизованной перспективы для всех народов.
В Беларуси обеспечены мир, стабильность и безопасность.
Так будет и впредь. Вооруженные Силы Беларуси стоят на страже
рубежей Отечества.
Дорогие ветераны!
Примите нашу огромную благодарность и низкий поклон за этот
праздник. За мирное небо над головой. За нашу свободу и счастье.
Беларусь всегда будет помнить ваш подвиг. Ведь недаром среди
участников шествия так много детей и молодежи. В их сияющих глазах и
сердцах живет радостный, победный дух той далекой весны 45-го года.
Уверен, что наши дети, внуки и правнуки сохранят и приумножат
традиции мужества и доблести, завещанные поколением победителей.
В этот праздничный день я от всей души поздравляю вас, всех жителей
и гостей нашей прекрасной Родины со светлым праздником Победы.
Желаю вам крепкого здоровья, мира, счастья и процветания. Живите
