I support a strong aggressive defense against terrorism and in particular against the guerrillas in Colombia, which have been destroying my country for decades for the sake of their own greed and power. It is important for Colombia to keep a strong alliance with our closest friend, the USA, who have provided a lot of support for law abiding citizens in Colombia and helped us so much in the effort of fighting terrorism and drug trade.

Of course, they provide jobs, pay a 41% tax rate that help fund a number of social programs and infrastructure, and boost local economies, while often providing needed goods and services at reansonable costs, and they don't conduct terrorist operations that violently kill innocent people.
Besides that, FARC and corporate business are almost identical!

Actualy it was a bad day...how the ehll did you know?
I apologize for flying off the handle but I've been exceedingly depressed and angry.
Not to mention I had been getting angry at how people distinguish revolutions from terrorism.
I mean to the british weren't the american rebels terrorist?
Its all relative. not to mention how after 9/11 anyone who didn't support the US 100% was a terrorist.
That sorta made me fly off the handle. I'm not in favor of killing.
However people have broadend that term to mean anyone who doesn't like President Bush even if the person isn't a leftist.
People aren't being fair to other people's beliefs...and I admit I did that also towards non socialists.
The thing we have all forgotten is to respect other peoples beliefs.

First, where'd you get the 41% figure from?
For examples of the West's impact on Latin America, one need only look to Argentina, Brazil, Nicaragua, El Salvador, etc. In case after case, we find the same thing: a small number of rich and a large number of poor.
As for supporting terrorism, maybe you're right in the official sense. However, they seem very familiar with plain, old fashioned terror (http://www.commondreams.org/headlines02/0808-01.htm). Just ask the people in Sudan (http://www.commondreams.org/views01/0609-03.htm) or Ken Saro-Wiwa (http://www.commondreams.org/headlines/091900-01.htm).

"First, where'd you get the 41% figure from?"
41% is the IRS corporate income tax rate.
"For examples of the West's impact on Latin America, one need only look to Argentina, Brazil, Nicaragua, El Salvador, etc."
Latin America is a hotbed for leftist pundits, and for good reason. However, all nations of central and latin america, regardless of ideology, are developing economies and emerging markets, and they are all third world, whether operating under free market theory or dictatorship and central planning.
"As for supporting terrorism, maybe you're right in the official sense. However, they seem very familiar with plain, old fashioned terror (http://www.commondreams.org/headlines02/0808-01.htm)."
I can appreciate this article, however, I question whethter in this situation it is exxon mobile who id directly responsibe. The piece states that exxon is being persued inn the litigation for providing "material and logistical support". Was said support given for purposes of committing the travesty? Or was that an unfortunate incidental that is the rewsponsiblility of TNI?
"Just ask the people in Sudan (http://www.commondreams.org/views01/0609-03.htm)"
Again, should we compromise leegitimate business as a means to stop warlords? or should we stop the warloards themselves?
"or Ken Saro-Wiwa (http://www.commondreams.org/headlines/091900-01.htm)."
again, a relevant article. howerver, it cites on ly the plaintiff's allegations, and does not seem to balance the story with the dutch/british wing's of shell's claims. I will try and hunt down more information, nad follow the trial proceedings to get the full story

"However, all nations of central and latin america, regardless of ideology, are developing economies and emerging markets..."
Less than a hundred years ago, Argentina was a wealthy nation. Now it's not. Again, I ask where are the "emerging markets" that have actually emerged? Brazil has enormous resources, but the West has taken them. It should be a rich country, but poverty is profound there. Where have neoliberal policies ever worked?
As for ExxonMobil, isn't providing support exactly what the US accused Afghanistan of doing after Sept. 11? Material and logistic support. It seems clear enough to me.
"Again, should we compromise leegitimate business as a means to stop warlords? or should we stop the warloards themselves?"
Should we support "legitimate" business that supports warlords ("Report after report from human-rights organizations has established the complicity of Canadian, European and Asian oil companies.") or not? The fact remains that corporate investment is not a means to a good society.
"I will try and hunt down more information, nad follow the trial proceedings to get the full story"
This is good, but CI won't find much about it outside of Left publications, because the "liberal" media does not cover such things, especially indepth. Also, expect to wait 20 years, for, as the Union Carbide (which Dow bought) example shows us, justice is long in coming, and fleeting at best.
