View Full Version : I can't think of a movie's name
There is a 80's Canadian movie I remeber watching on TVO (Television Ontario).
It is a dystopia future future were unemployment reaches critical levels. A lone technician that runs statistical data on the government's supercomputer sees there has to be a major societal change and start thinking outside the capitalist mindset of how to solve the problem of unemployment. He ponders the idea of communal like production, His example is a communal urban farm where everyone shares the tools. With the help of a female journalists that is also a artist he tries apply his theory to the current crisis were the last of the factories are going to close resulting in mass poverty with no hope in site.
The journalists pitches the idea (of communal production) to the bourgeoisie in a interview about the failing factory, the bourgeoisie respond that people would cheat and the idea could never work. After the interview the bourgeoisie decide to trick the workers by allowing them to buy the factory with money that the workers borrow from them, their plan is the workers will be trapped in crushing debt payments and they (the bourgeoisie) will win regardless of how well the workers co-op does and still be the ruling class. The journalists finds out but also gets word the government made a statement that it will declare marshal law if the union strikes, the union votes to strike and the movie ends with the journalists going to her art thinking of the ideas of a new society while the workers and police fight on the street.
I don't know why but all of sudden I just remembered most of the film even though I only saw it once on TVO. Yes the film pretends these are new ideas but other then that from what I remeber it was a pretty radical for a movie.

Send an email to IMDb or something.
Still can't think of the movie's name, am I the only one here that saw this movie on TVO way back then?

Sounds fucking cool as all hell, Psy...! I'll keep an eye on this thread -- please post the title if you can find it...!
I really liked the Twilight Zone series from the mid-'80s -- it had *very* societal, thought-provoking themes / storylines -- some of the best stuff I've *ever* seen on TV....

I'm also looking for some movies I've seen and don't remember the title too. IMDB hasn't been very helpful, so I thought I'd give you all a try.
Both are dated horror flicks which involve haunted houses. The first involves some kind of haunted house, in which some catholic boarding school girls enter on a dare. They find supernatural trouble there, but escape. Unfortunately, one of the girls makes the mistake of taking a tube of lipstick from this evil house, and the lipstick turns into a sinister worm that enters her vaginally () and makes her an evil perverted demon who's goal is to wear skimpy clothes and seduce good catholic boys (gotta love religious patriarchy ) bringing a terrible chaos which can only be stopped with a nun attacking people with holy water. The thing that makes me remember this absurd film (other than the lipstick thing) is this scene where the possessed girl exposes her breasts to some guy, he reaches to touch them, and they morph into hands which grab his own and melt his skin. I'm not kidding, folks.
The other is more tame, involving some writer guy who moves into a haunted house, has his kid taken by the evil monsters within, and has to face the ghost of his buddy from Vietnam who died and blamed him for his death. Mediocre claymation stuff, but fun all the same.
Any insights would be appreciated. I know it's a stretch, but hey, nothing to loose in trying.

It aired on TVO many years ago and was obviously a independent film and the Internet is not that great at keeping track of old independent films. I only found the name of the film that aired on the same day on TVO after it and that the 1981 film Gas (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082440/) yet since I can't a archive of TVO's old scedual I can't look for when they aired Gas then look for the other movies they aired around the same time, hell I can't even find bootlegs of Gas on the Internet so I doubt even if I find the movies name I will be able to find a bit torrent of it.
Sorry hugs'n'marxism I don't recall movies like that.

No. I saw this when I was, like, 12 or so... it wasn't a spoof trailer in Grindhouse. Nice try, though.
