Should the U.S cut the turkey and fully convert to the metric system or stay with imperial system and slowy convert to metric?

Shit, that one is easy. What do you think? The System International (SI) is far superior to the United States Customary System (USCS). The problem remains the cost of retooling and converting the machining industry over, not to mention the general level of the public's retardation.

The problem with the U.S. is that they didn't jump on the metric bandwagon soon enough.

A good question to ask, though.

You Americans should use the metric system, because I'm fed up with having to convert your crazy miles, feet, and inchs to metric.Canada grudgingly uses the metric system, though many things are still referred to by their old imperial measure sizes (a typical construction timber is still refered to as a 2 by 4 because it measures 2 inches by 4 inches in cross section - plywood is sold as a 4 by 8 because it is 4 feet wide by 8 feet long). In all cases, the metric units of measure have to be posted by the store.

I'd be up for it, IF somebody could only figure out how you do things like cut recipes in half. A half batch of chocolate chip cookies on the English system is pretty easy. I can't see how it would be anything but durn near impossible on the Metric.

Yeah, I'll admit the metric system is more logical.

A slow, systematic conversion would be more economical.

To fully convert, you'd need more than free afternoon.
if everyone would just do their part to help convert.
where are we gonna put all those mile markers when we have to change them!!! AHH haha
i think it would take 25 years to FULLY convert textbooks, mile markers :), maps, recipes, but i guess coke and the water companies are doin their part by going from 20 oz to 16.9 oz (.5L) oh well untill it happens, ill stil make a dozen cookies instead of 10

How do you divide a meter by three?

The metric system is way better but you need a changeover period where people who know the imperial system can learn the new system or die off. But stupid shop keepers over here refuse to sell things in metric because they say "that's what our customers understand" and go to jail even though most of their customers under 30 don't know the difference between 3 pints and 2 fluid ounces.

This reminds me of when I was in a chatroom and converting metric measures into imperial for the Americans and imperial measures into metric for the continental Europeans, being a Brit is funny.
