D-Day has a thread in the chit-chat forum offering to send anyone a copy of the "anarchists cookbook".

Now, I understand that a simple web search will yield a copy to anyone, but there are some very young, impressionable people on this site. The nature of this site is particularly conducive to attracting individuals who are looking for an identity and are very impressionable.

D-Day, by offering a copy to anyone who will give an e--mail address, is inherently endorsing use of this book.

Potentially, some 12-year old could blow his face off or his family up by accident, or worse.

And this is a website dedicated to peace and cooperative existence?

Am I way off base here? Am I the only one who thinks is an abhorrent travesty?

Please advise.

CI- young and imressionable? I have already seen most of the book anyhow, and it doesnt mean that i am going to build a bomb and blow myself up. You seemt o think that if one is under 14, they are weak minded and do not understand life. They do. I could think logically at that age, and i know many people who could too.

You shouldn't build things you don't truely understand. I've read the cookbook, and most of the content would be stupid to attempt without knowledge of physics. The book is shit, learn the principles and how it works, not simply how to get the end result. Besides it is way out of date. You have to be smart, i.e. be able to produce superior technology then the armies you are fighting. It wouldn't be some third world guerrilla war.

CI, your signature was actually from the ancient Latin people who through the quote meant in order to avoid conflagrations one must prepare for war, not start war, but prepare it so the opposition is fearful of their strength and stuff and won't risk a conflict. It is a famous and common phrase.

its a huge sterotype that anyone with "different" beliefs are vulnerable to any idea. Where as we all know, anything and anyone is vulnerable to new and interesting thoughts and ways. most teenagers are capable of thinking for themselves. i can't say all but i can say most. most know what they are doing and what interests them.

Yeah, I know, through equal escalation of weapons and military proliferation opposing states are less willing to committ to a full scale war with each other. I think that the "Mutualy Assured Destruction" theory of the cold war was the ultimate expression of this concept.

I attributed the quote to Reagan because he re-popularized it durung the cold war, when he was refering the the principle of MAD.

12 year olds are very impressionable. I don't think they

were talking about MacDonalds putting cancer on the

menu, and I doubt that 12 year olds buy Nikes (that

would be their parents). Children knowing how to

makes explosives that they don't really understand the

concepts behind (just boom) is moronic, but a child

seeking that knowledge is showing a need, send him a

Physics book or something instead, it might do him

good. I think that there are probably enough Anarchist

Cookbooks in the world for everyone, and what good is

it when everyone can build an explosive, but

understands nothing about it besides it is peices stuck

together. Not saying you should be able too give away

the book just feel that it is a bit redundant as you can

access the book at many different places on and off the

web.

By the way, many of the anarchy books out there have been rigged specifically to fail and hurt the anarchist. Everybody knows that.

Those anarchist books make me laugh.
I have spoken to friends who have studied chemistry and they say the directions and recipes to build explosives are totally wrong. You can really hurt yourself.

But doesn't that book just look great on the shelf of your library?

(By the way, I am looking for a REAL anarchist cookbook. With recipes for anarchist food dishes. lol)
