When election time roles around do you get that nagging feeling that there really isn’t much difference between the candidates running for office? Do you feel frustrated and helpless, because in your heart you know that no matter what a candidate says nothing will substantially change if she/he wins and takes office?

If your answer is “yes” to one or both of these questions, then your gut intuition is on the right track regarding the illusion of a democratic electoral system in the United States.

The first thing you need to understand is that in America’s two party system Democrats and Republicans are just OPPOSITE SIDES OF THE SAME COIN! All Democrat and Republican candidates for national and high state offices are wealthy and they run their campaigns on the donations of their wealthy supporters.

You don’t need a masters degree in political science to figure out that the first loyalty of these politicians is not to the working class and poor people of our country, but to their own class - the RICH.

The “issues” the two parties debate are, in fact, merely vehicles that are exploited to create the illusion that American voters have a voice in the direction of our country. Think about it! Do the politicians of the Democratic Party care more about the number of votes they will harvest from their stand on the Iraq occupation or about the suffering and death of the Iraqi people?

The bottom line is that the “democratic” electoral process in the United States is bogus. It is an illusion that has the American people duped into believing they are participating in “democracy” and have a say in the direction of the country.

By all means, if you feel you need a catharsis and shy away from using products like Ex-Lax, go to the polls and vote. However, be aware that the main mission of the United States government is to protect the wealthy and their businesses. Whether they are Democrat or Republican, any candidate you vote for will be a representative of the rich - not your representative!
