I listen low-bap.Hip-hop was renamed to low-bap due to hip-hop got an ugly face from some assholes which were advertising that they were doing hip-hop.The basic group is Active-Member.Purely leftist group with their lyrics sending clearly messages some times against authorities, fascists etc. However they usually sing in greek but there are and some songs in other languages especially english. There is and a song "Guantanamo" where it is said in different languages a really great song!

Hip-hop reggae fusion: Sean Paul.
I don't know how leftist he is, but he routinely produces legalization singles.

I don't care much for rap, but I do love hip-hop.

Blue Scholars are probably the most lyrically sound and blatantly revolutionary socialist hip hop group since Dead Prez.

"My purpose as a Maoist is serve the people to the fullest, knowing that my name is somewhere written on a bullet"

"But instead most will settle for less, I can't front I give a fuck if Ronald Reagan is dead"

"When the colonizer came with the cross and the sword, I threw the first spear and said 'I declare war!', I'm a battle scar wearin' heir apparent, descendant of a long lineage of proletarian and peasant"

Sabzi is a beast on the beats and not many can touch Geologic's talent to get a message across musically. Check out "Sagaba", "No Rest for the Weary", "Cornerstone", "Southside Revival", and "Fire for the People"

Dead Prez is my favourite. I also like The Coup, Paris, Public Enemy and Immortal Technique... I used to be crazy for Tech, but then I heard "Beef and Broccoli"... I downloaded Revolutionary vol 1, but because it was a bootleg it didn't have "Beef and Broccoli". Then I downloaded full version with that song, and I was very disapointed. Why? Well, first I was extremely mad at him for dissin' the vegetarians and vegans, and then I found out that he was a muslim... But then I came to my senses... If I can listen to street and gansta rap which diss everything I stand for, why can't i listen to Tech with who I disagree in 2 things: Food and Religion.

I apologize for my bad spelling and boring long reply

BTW for all atheist, agnostics and non believers, I recommend Greydon Square :thumbup1:... He isn't leftist, but he is one, if not only, outspoken atheist mc.

Public Enemy.

Black Nationalists with dodgy anti-semitic views, aren't they? Correct me if I'm wrong. I like their music regardless.

Hmm... I don't really see them as anti-semitic... They never said "kill the jews" or something like that... Maybe Professor Griff, but he ain't part of the group any more. And what's wrong with them bein' black nationalist? Paris is also, so as X-Clan, Poor Righteous Teachers, Brand Nubian, Bush Babees... I don't have a problem with that... If my ancestors ware slaves, and took away from their country, I would be a lot more angrier, than most of these artist. In conclusion, don't take serious everything they say in their song, after all the are just a musicians, not politicians.

I haven't researched Black Nationalism enough to write a comprehensive critique, but my humble impression is that it advocates racial separatism. As of recent, there have even been some weird collaborations between Black Nationalists and White Nationalists in the US as they figured they ultimately want the same thing. Homophobia and antisemitism enter the equation frequently.

While I can see how somebody can get angry at 'the whites', racial separatism is not something I support.

Many black Africans were sold to whites as slaves by other black Africans. Even a Black Nationalist like Farrakhan admits to that these days. It's silly to blame anything on an entire race.

Public Enemy are probably far from being leftist, but their music is awesome. Fear Of A Black Planet is my personal favourite.

I agree that it's ridiculous to blame it on entire "race"... But if someone says "Kill all white ppl" it doesn't hit me... Term "race", as far as I know, was a product of Anglo-Saxons and Western Europeans in colonial era... No one asked Eastern Europeans, or Asians or any other ppl if they would like to identified as certain "race"... In ancient Egypt ppl were indentified by place of their origin and/or group of people... There were Egyptians, Europeans, Semites and other Africans (they didn't know about far easterners). What I'm tryin to say that that don't hit's me, cuz I don't see myself as a member of any "race"; to me that's just ridiculous... Nobody is really "white" or "black"... My skin is not "white", it's more peachy and on hot weather usually redish ... This heat is killin' me, lol!
