View Full Version : Importance of education in a well organized communist society.

I didn't really spend a lot of timing researching the role of eduction in the communist society. If someone is familiar with, for example what Marx thought of it, I would be pleased if you share the knowledge.

Besides my lack of information on the topic, I would like to strike a theory that uneducated society will not be able to carry another revolution in the time frame of this century.

Accounting that majority of countries that have leftist governments today have low education levels, this theory of mine is very debatable from the very start.
Although I would enjoy your comments that can prove it wrong, in the recent years I am somewhat certain that this theory is, unfortunately, very true, at least in this day and age (I do not take in account any past events and concentrate only on the present day)

Personally I would put great emphasis on education and try to raise the number of college degree people in a hypothetical future communist country as high as possible.
I do agree that if one "doesn't" like to study it can be boring, but were you interested in the communist history when you were 14?
Exactly. Majority of people start thinking about global ideas during their college days, say 23 - 28 years old.

Yes, you do not need a college degree to lay bricks for example, that is perfectly clear.
I finished college, economics and management. Even completed a good part in order to pursue history PhD (quite a change from economics), but the point is this - why wouldn't I be a good bricklayer despite my education?
Is it humiliating to lay bricks with a college degree? Or be a garbageman or a mailman? Of course not!

Well I cant in this wicked society cause I gotta support the family, damn mortgages and loans ;).

So what would differ me as a bricklayer with a degree and another fellow who's got only 4 years of basic alphabet?
I hope you see where I'm going with this without sparking any controversies..

The difference would probably be that I wont pull a knife on a friend if we got in a drunken argument.
The difference would probably be that I wont beat up my wife and kids when I get home only because I consider my self a lowlife bricklayer while others are rich managers.
The difference would probably be that I would be more resistible to the lies of the fascist uprisings.
And the final difference in this satirical monologue of mine would be that I would probably, despite all the circumstances, be very reluctant to cut down a human throat just because this person is of a difference religion and/or nationality then myself?

If you got the point, my salute to you. If you didn't you'll probably going to give me some angry criticism, which is also cool.

Bottom line is that I honestly respect the working man, but there is no greater evil then when an uneducated fool turns to evil.
I am from a war torn communist paradise once known as Yugoslavia so I can back you up with multiple real life examples of my theory if you shall require.

Thanks for reading.

Exactly piet11111, the Cuban example is a great one and definitely needs to be studied further. Many critics of socialist state "forget" to mention the high levels of education Cubans have.
