Part of the problem could be curbed if the government kept up with increasing the minimum wage. A last-minute hike to $7.25, after most necessities have increased over 100%, is only going to briefly quell the problem. The discrete relationship between unemployment and minimum wage has never been proven. All the wealth has been going towards the top. So instead of the corporate CEOs having to pay their workers something semi-decent, the bill has been passed off onto the tax system - which punishes the middle class and small business owners.
