Yes, those damn Chinese. How dare they attack the independent media of the free world? It's perfectly objective and neutral to show pictures of Nepalese and Indian police repression and call them 'Chinese'.

No, it's not associated with the Chinese government. I watched it develop from the very beginning. The average Joe in China is being radicalized over Western provocation.

I concur. Despite the neocon outrage over the "liberal media", CNN is at best center right and is a private enterprise itself as far as I'm aware.
I mean Fox News seems the worst of the bunch to be perfectly honest but CNN is not without sin. I also find a certain trend of political views in those who rely solely on CNN for news as I find a trend in Fox viewers..It's best not to get your news from such biased bourgeois sources..especially from a single one. If there's any reason to keep up with them it's to have a quick rebuttal when someone says "Did you see that story on CNN last night?"
I've said it before and I'll say it again--it's all about the ratings.
EDIT: Also, what sort of proof do you have? Being opposed to CNN does not make one a part of the Chinese government. That's a classic guilt-by-association tactic I've seen used by the bourgeois media time and time again.

Well said. Also, to make it absolutely and abundantly clear: I'm not a fan of the Chinese government at all. Its state capitalist direction is completely wrong. That position also includes opposing the economic interests behind the Olympics. However, it would be even better for western imperialism if China would succumb to naked, neo-liberal capitalism. If 1 billion people would not be able to become an economic and political power in their own right, but serve western interests in some kind of massive sweatshop. Much more profitable than even those Olympics. The presence of Chinese state (co-)ownership, no matter how small, is tantalizing to them.
The good old 19th century drive to 'humiliate China' is there. It is recognized by the Chinese themselves, who begin to fight back. The Tibetan cause has held the momentum in the media for a long time, but it's losing ground now that more media are looking at the background, and begin to notice the other side of the story. Just now, I read that thousands of Chinese are protesting against CNN in LA. CNN reporter Cafferty has called the Chinese "goons and thugs". Nobody is taking that kind of thing seriously anymore.

There are many in the West who advocate boycotting Chinese goods in order to force China to submit to Western demands. Well, boycotting is a two way street isn’t it. I hope the Chinese people boycott the hell out of the overpriced Western junk that’s imported into China. (Grassroots movements are now springing up all over China to do precisely that.) Westerners are after all the greatest perpetrators of genocide past or present. Boycott Chinese goods? Let these Westerners get a taste of their own medicine and choke on their own arrogance and hypocrisy.

Oh, check out CNN's hilarious nonpology (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=nonpology): http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/article3756437.ece
That's right, Cafferty didn't say anything wrong. But he really is sorry for the people who 'misinterpreted' him. Honestly, what does it matter? However you interpret it, no journalist would ever get away with saying "America = goons and thugs" or "We still have relations with the goons and thugs of the UK".
Also, BBC explains itself: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7327886.stm The Chinese media are censored, so it's okay to lie about China.
