I Will Deny You

I originally thought of posting this in General Political Topics, but the board is supposedly rid of racists now so I figure I should post this in the only forum where everyone will be able to respond.
First of all, I'd like to say something real quick about the Wall of Tolerance. I'm sure I won't need to explain this to anyone, because we're all active anti-racists here . . . right, Thine Stalin? Anyway, my mom got a letter addressed to Judith Rosenthal, which is her maiden name. (She got hitched seven years ago. No, my parents aren't particularly quick on the uptake. I know.) So it seems to me that a lot of the people from the 60's have to be involved, because if they got my mom's name from a mailing list it would have been Judith Neil. Now that I'm done with that . . .
I was just wondering if anyone here could possibly dislike Morris Dees or Rosa Parks. Southern Poverty is about as non-controversial as an organization can get, but who knows? I'll see you guys on the Wall of Tolerance!

Morris Dees was a civil rights attorney who championed such causes as ending all white YMCA's. He graduated from the University of Alabama's School. Overall a good guy who founded the Southern Poverty organization. He was the first presidential nominee to raise a large amount of cash by small gift contributions, which speaks to the man's popularity and character.
Rosa Parks, well Rosa Parks is Rosa Parks. Everyone should know who she is, so I am not going to bother explaining.
I don't really know how anyone could dislike either of these people for what they did. They seem to be extraordinary examples of heroism. They stood up when it was necessary, and against many ignorant folk, like Thine Stalin. You say that everyone should appreciate these people and I would agree. However, this was not the case during their struggles. I guess that is what makes them heros. The fact they were willing to stick there necks out and brave the adversity that followed their decisions. Of course forward thinking individuals would repect such feats, but that is not always the case. There are still ignorant people alive today that would work to destroy the accomplishments of people like Rosa, Moris, and even Martin Luther King Jr. Just ask Jesse Jackson, probably one of the most devisive charaters alive today in American culture.
P.S. You owe me a thoughful post I Will Deny You.

A thoughtful post about what? Where do you want this thoughtful post? I'm guessing by the way you wrote your message that you want me to write about Jesse Jackson.
The current bestseller about Jesse Jackson, while making some valid points, is also full of half-truths and cover-ups. Patricia Williams' review in The Nation explains a lot about this.
I don't like Jesse Jackson. I'm sure that he's done some wonderful things, but sometimes he seems to care more about news coverage than he does about the actual movement, so he takes attention away from people like Morris Dees. I also don't like his tactics. I just plain don't like him much at all. He's about a notch above yuriandropov and a notch below Thine Stalin on Lindsay's Shithead-O-Meter, to put my dislike for him in context.

I meant that you should reply next time I start a wordy thread that no one replies to. Many of my posts go untouched. Perhaps they are too long, but sometimes it is necessary to be verbose when trying to get a point across or asking a pointed question. Your response with your views on Jackson will suffice. Thanks. Even though I am sure we are diametrically opposed in the political arena, it appears that we can agree on something. I too find Jackson to be a dispicable character.
