What summer jobs have folks taken?

If you could do your dream summer job, what would it be? (Ok, no job at all, besides that!!)

Do you have to save every penny like I did to make it through the rest of the school year?

When my kids grow up I want them to try everything for the summer like farming, building, and teaching.

i continue to work in my cities main library. have been there since november, so i would consider it a "summer job."

i have gotten enough scholarships to basically pay for my entire year at UCD next year, including room and board, but im saving most of my money for snacks i may want to eat while in school.

ideal job...im there right now. i put away books, read in my breaks, and have the opportunity to not pay any late fines ever, how much better then that can you get? not much i suspect.

but i do have to save every penny and that isn't even going to get me through a month or two of school.....start saving for university right away

You could volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and bring your kids.

The best summer job I had was working on a coastwise tugboat in Kodiak, Alaska.

My dream summer job would involve aviation, possibly flying bush in alaska, or restoring a WWII era B-25 Mitchell for fire-bombing during forrest fire season in the western continental U.S.

I'm gonna be volunteering with Summerbridge, a program that helps train inner-city middle schoolers so that they can get into good high schools, and eventually, good colleges. But next year, I'll be old enough to get a job with manual labor, so I'll probably do that.

Nothing will change for me over the summer. I will continue to work at the same job that I have been at for over two years. My school work will diminish a bit, but my payed work will increase as it is now crunch time.
If I didn't have some of the obligations that I currently am required to meet. I suppose my dream job would consist of cross training for two years and then trying to make it into a special forces program. If I could, I would enjoy being a helicopter pilot or gunner. Nothing would be more satisfying than gunning down Al Quida, Taliban, or Republican Guard. This is work that I could take great pride in doing.

My ideal job was dressing up in beautiful clothes, having experts put makeup on me and do my hair, then having my picture taken.

But my dad made me quit and go back to university.

My little supermodel is shaping up to be one great little gal. She's only six and I won't stop her from following any of her dreams.

My summer job is I fucking party until 3 in the morning. That is when I'm not here. Which is absolutely fucking amazing to me, by the way, the amount of time I do. It hasn't come down yet to it being like: "Pavlov (assumed name), we're all goin' down to the Beachtree then we're gonna go to Dowses and drink on the beach." And then I, Pavlov (assumed name) respond: "Negative. Field Marshall just called my WW2 knowledge feeble and I'm waiting for Lindsay's fucking review."

So what I'm going to do is I'm going to go to the Army Surplus store on Main St and I'm going to buy a sliver bullet and give it to my friends, and when the night comes where I blow off plans to play on the internet, I'm going to make them promise to put it through my fucking heart.

Thanks for the review finally, Ms. Lindsay. Sorry my response was a little harsh. I don't know. We should just do what's best for the kids.

American Kid, those supermodels don't post on Che Guevara websites. I'm a former supermodel, that's my screenname everywhere on the internet except Amazon where it was already taken. I hung up my thong quite some time ago.

Yes, partying and sitting on one's ass.......how I long for those days of freedom.......

Great, another teacher who will teach our kids the 'virtues' of communism through liberal banter. If home schooling didn't result in social retardation I would make it a point to home school any kids that I had. I don't know which is worse the social retardation of home schooled kids or the mental retardation caused by liberal thinking in the public schools.

Don't worry about it Stormin Norman, our kids learn absolutely nothing in public schools. My kids are in first and third grade and my husband and I put in a full week every weekend and evening teaching them about the real world.

In school they basically learn about the explorers and the rain forest. You teach thenm the the rest.

I'm seriously hurt by that Norman.

I have tried to make it obviously clear that I am one of the socialits that advocates people being able to choose their political affiliation.

I don't want to force my beliefs down peoples throats. I've said that in religous and political disscussions.

You need to fucking think before you insult someone.

My main reason for wanting to teach is because I want to share my love of literature with young minds.

You are very wrong for saying what you did.

Also you dumb fuck i'M NOT A FUCKING COMMUNIST, I'M A SOCIALIST

mental retardation caused by liberal thinking in the public schools.

This would be an effective insult. However, your intelligence is less than Albert Einstein's.

Lardlad,

I am sure you would be a great teacher. My remarks were intended to be more of an insult to the current state of America's K-12 public education system, than to you personally. In truth, I have had many good teachers who were liberal and didn't interject their opinions on the students. At the same time, I had many that did. Judging from what you have said, there is no reason to believe that you would engage in any of the nonsense that abounds in the schools today. My philosophy teacher was a liberal. Aside for that defect, his class was one of the most interesting that I had the privilege of taking. He did offer his opinions in his teaching. This was not inappropriate since it was a philosophy and general discourse enhanced the overall course. Rest assured, I challenged him quite a bit, but we had a mutual respect for each other’s ability to think and to reason.
If I hurt your feelings, I am sorry. Please continue in your life dream to become a teacher. Political affiliation is less important than the teacher's desire to teach. Currently, there is a shortage of good teachers who love what they do and value the dissemination of information. I am sure you would be a valued asset to whatever school is smart enough to hire you.

In response to:

"This would be an effective insult. However, your intelligence is less than Albert Einstein's."

Surely you don't think that every liberal has the intelligence quotient of Albert Einstein. Most of them lack any sort of critical thinking skills and would be hard pressed to engage in 6th grade algebra. Besides, you do not know who I am, what I have done, or what I am capable of.
