From Preston Manning, to Stockwell Day, and finally to Steven Harper...what are your thoughts on this "right wing" political party?

PManning is great at making fun of himself, he currently was at a just for laughs in TO, and shot an episode for the Air Farce a little while ago

SDay believes in creation, enuff said

And Harper, I think he has been their best leader of late, well at least his image is viewed as such.

Overall I would never vote for the Alliance, too right wing for me, In fact I have trouble with all Canadian parties. They are all the same.

the alliance are really a joke....but a frightening joke because doris day (ooops i mean stockwell day) got too many votes to let me sleep at nite.

and now they are trying to do things to get more 'leftist' people on their side (i.e. introducing a decriminalization of marijuana bill).....

they frighten me.....and i wonder what the hell is wrong with all those that vote for them......they are quite big in the law school i attend

Well, beeing from Quebec, I found the Alliance very...absurde, if I could say. Im 100% with the person who said that canadian party were the same... Even in Quebec with le Parti Québecois, we feel that it all comes down to one thing; having the control over a central government. But..there's one thing; doesn't Chrétien is starting to scare you with his friendship with Buddy Bush and Buddy Blair?.. I think he is loosing it or that Mulroney has put too much into lobbying for the interests of the Bush empire...

Do you think Martin would be in? Well, actually who do you think will win the next election if Chrétien doesnt turn out with a mental desease and makes himself Dictator and abolish all the other parties? lol

No Capitalist Imperial, you aren't invited. The Allience Party, though "right wing" doesn't like the US much at all, and they want to continue trade with CUBA!

....some of there members are actually like B.C. "MP" Keith Martin, are actually very socially minded individuals and are "open minded" politically. He is a very decient person. That much I know of him...I have had many dealings with him.

...but I wouldn't vote for his party. Privitisation IS NOT THE ANSWER!

Aren't the CPC stalinists? I might be wrong.
Also, what is the point of having two communist parties (the Marxist-Leninist party and the Communist party)?

I used to be really close to the CPC. This IRC channel (marxchat) is owned by the CPC.

They don't seem to be stalinists, just marxists. I am not sure how you define a stalinist party in the 21st century.

The CPC (aka the Marxist-Leninist party of Canada) are moreso Marxists, They do use the hammer and sickle though, anyone here a member of their youth organization?

The CPC and Socialist part of Canada often talk with other MAIN political groups in canada. They are quite open and tollerant. The CPC has a LONG history in my country and has worked during the 1920's -1970's to benift the Pacific provinces/ Saskatchewan/ and Manitoba farmers association and provided social assistance for labour. They are a WELL respected political entity in Canada. Without the CPC and Socialist Party of Canada we would be up the creek without a paddle! I'm glad that my country favours political, and social diversity over assimulation.

Your country is actually just an assimilated territory of the USA

...nice try!

no, infact we are not! we are TOTALLY differant from your country.

....do some research. I have!

Felicia

The CPC isn't about creating a "communist Canada" It's about democratic renewal. So I don't think that they would emplement a common annual income.

Oh, and CI. If we were an extention of the US we'd be the state that people didn't hate.

Pleaaaaaase don't make me puke on my keyboard! We are NOT and we'll NEVER be a part of you country. We have different values, different cultures even. We are NOT an assimilated territory; in fact we are proud nationSSS, yes, we have more than only 1 nation, there's the difference too, we are not a melting pot but a multicultural state. I trully believe that even if we share the largest open-border (well,... more or less opened now but anyways...) we are not just another USA territory where your president can rule over us. We have different political institutions, different point of view, different values, ect.

I know we don't seem to care for our country but we do, it's just that our proudness is quiet... we don't need that American extra-self-confidence-super-ego thing... ( but I am not against Americans, a vast majority of you are nice...and buy 80% of our exportations too.)

So please, don't insult us by saying we're just another territory ruled over by USA. You know there's enough countries like that. But not us. no.

"And I trully believe that the beaver is a noble animal" lol

On another note, I didn't know that CPC was that powerfull in the Prairies. I would say that in the Center part where I live (nation's capital) on the Quebec sides there is starting to be a much more "social conscience" and it's good, coz the Quebec nationalism is droping (woohoo! :D). But in Ottawa and the rest of urban Ontario I would say that CPC as a bad reputation...:( people are more likely to vote for Liberals ( As I said..Chrétien is starting to scare me...)

Anyways up up up with the Social-democratic parties! :D

I don't really see either of the communist parties getting any real support from the working class. The unions always have and probably always will support the NDP, even though the NDP has fucked the workers on numerous ocasions. Workers tend to go back to their traditional parties. The NDP is the only party with support of the workers and the only left-leaning party that has any chance of taking power. That is why I think we have to work with in the NDP and turn it into a revolutionary group. We have to many small communist groups without the support of the workers.

NDP to power on a socialist program!

I think the NPD would be a logic trasition to a more social Canada and if it gets the support of the people then the CPC or other social or communist parties could be more easily introduced to Parliament. But, unfortunatly I think that the chances that NPD or other parties of that ideology enter Parliament are pretty thin... :( People are just gonna rallie -again- like sheeps to Liberal again but without Chrétien. But indeed if all leftists groups could go in only one giant big party they could enter maybe more easily. union=strenght, ..sometimes

first of all excellently said solidarity about canada. canada is not the states. et ici, nous aimons tous que c'est Canada....pas seulement une peuple.

second.....i agree that the ndp is the best party to work with. and perchance they will get seom support not that alexa mcdounna (yuck!) is gone.

and finally....i'm from ontario and honestly the cpc ....not liked here.....especially in ottawa....very conservative

1) The NDP is the only party that will be able to unite the left as it is the only party with (sort of) popular support.

2)How many of you live in the Ottawa area and would like to meet up sometime?

The NDP do a lot of good. But some of its members (the same in all poltical parties) screw up...
....NDP are good hearted and are quite easy to deal with. Alexa Mcdounna needed to resign. I didn't like her at all. The party is good though.
