View Full Version : Paulville - Ron Pauls supporters are sore losers

Comrade Wolfie's Very Nearly Banned Adventures

Since that libertarian fuckwit Ron Paul failed to get any support at the nominations for republican candidate, his supporters have decided to do something else....

At last, some cheering news for downhearted fans of Ron Paul, the libertarian Republican now certain to fail, by some distance, to secure his party's presidential nomination. This month has seen the first meeting of the shareholders in a fledgling community development planned in rural Texas, to be comprised exclusively of Paul's supporters. It is to be called Paulville.
The gated settlement will house freedom-loving folk, living unbound by the shackles of planning regulations. Its founders hope that when complete, it will inspire further Paulvilles around America and, in their own words, "literally change the world, one community at a time".

I though this was pretty funny, any chance of success?

Hehe, a community that won't allow organized labor nor labor themselves. Sounds productive!

Okay that does it - this absolutely proves it. Ron Paul is a cult leader. His followers are on par with Objectivists.

Comprised solely of Ron Paul supporters? yeah free loving folk alright, ill laugh when this "community" falls apart. this is just another cult following, and i dont think Ron Paul would even support such a community.

I wonder how much crack was needed to come up with this zany scheme?

the ides of setting up an independent free community is great, but an independent community of Ron Paul supporters? weirdos

Now I'm having a political crisis -- would we support the Paulville's right to self-determination or would we support the Union's prerogative to smash their secessionist cult? Oh, shit, I feel rigor mortis setting in...! <grin>

This was attempted and failed two hundred years ago. They're a little behind the times, I'd say.

what really makes me loathe the ron paul movement even more so than the fact that it promotes free market and capitalism values, ie, complete market regulation, is that this guy sold one of the most undesirable and old packages, ie, paleoconservative uber-capitalist ideology, under the guise of some kind of anti-war activist. this only proves ron paul is a good business man. the sad thing is that he duped many on the left! i mean, it simply does not get any more regressive than this guy. he's an isolationist, which is why he is anti-war a la pat buchanan. the only difference between his form of capitalism and bush is that bush heavily subsidizes the richest people in the country and bush actually supports more regulations! this guy is libertarian rightest at it's worst. the only, and i repeat only, good thing about ron paul is that he wants to pull the u.s. out of iraq. ron paul: anti-gay, anti-welfare, anti-education, anti-women's right to choose. oh! but he wants to legalize drugs and he's de facto anti war since he's an isolationist! let's, as responsible anti-war activists, support this guy! this was the immaturity of the left at one of it's recent peaks. are people really this hopeless? the true bullshit test and why you should never vote for someone is this: alex jones, free market radical conspiracy douche bag, supports a candidate. this should of been ron paul's nail in the coffin to any leftists. the guy's a rightist joke.

Oh...my...god.

This is the funniest shit ever.

But like Zampano said, this has been tried before, by Robert Owen and Josiah Warren. It didn't get far, although the type of homesteading that it was based around continued on in the U.S.

What does Robert Owen have to do with Ron Paul?

What does Robert Owen have to do with Ron Paul?

He tried to create a type of communal society in New Harmony, Indiana.

Please remember -- it's only funny because they're stupid. If they weren't serious and instead did what they did for the sake of satire, like writing for "The Onion" or something, then at least we could say they were being clever. Unfortunately they decided to go the serious route, so we reap the rewards....

I say let's chip in and buy them a time machine so they'll finally find their promised land.

I'm pissed 'cause I went to all this trouble to make up a cool political spectrum diagram using 3-D graphics, and I can't even fucking fit them in on it correctly because THEY'RE NOT FROM THIS FUCKING CENTURY.

Necessity dictates that the community will function on a cooperative basis, albeit with the ability for households to opt out. The idea is that the option not to access communal utilities, such as electricity, will ensure that its founding individualist principles remain unsullied.

Sounds like KKKOMMUNISM?

He did, yes. But that has nothing to do with what these idiots are doing. It is also worth pointing out that Robert Owen was trying in New Harmony something that he had already tried and succeeded in creating here in Scotland. His New Lanark programme here was a huge success. It finally wound up in the 1950s when there simply wasn't any market for their products any more, but it fairly lasted. I am not saying his way is the way to go, but I will not deny I admire the man and whenever I visit New Lanark I am always struck by just how ahead of his time he was.
