These are pictures I took at the Butterfly exhibit at Bowring Park, St John's, Newfoundland, Canada, April 6, 2008.

The blue one is a species from Brazil, I dont know where the others come from. I the blue one is also on my msn, my desktop pic, and my laptop pic as well.

I think i might have a talent for photography.

Oy. They are huge. If I had known they were gonna be this big....

Yea, would be nice if someone could make them smaller for me. Thanks. :)

I think they look great. I haven't ever photographed butterflies before (never gotten close enough), but I have some ants...

nice. I like ants too. in fact, I like all animals.

(my environmentalism got some members of RL to think i was a primitivist hehe and asked for my restriction but im not. Oh well. I love all species on earth humans included.)

These butterflies were domesticated ones, born and raised in captivity among humans. So they are well used to people. Their ancestors came from all over the world. So people walked through the greenhouse where they lived and there were cacti, trees, flowers, fountains, ferns, benches, everything. It was a big greenhouse kept heated of course because butterflies are cold blooded animals. and the butterflies had all this space to fly around in and roam and you walked through the greenhouse and the butterflies flew around you and they would land all over ya. They were well socialized friendly butterflies who came right up close to ya. They'd even let you stroke their wings while they gazed with their big eyes at you.

I loved how well they treated the butterflies. They were owned by an entomologist and his son and they treated their pets so well. You could tell they really loved animals. They were well raised, well socialized, beautiful healthy friendly butterflies. and they had a great big greenhouse to fly freely in, they werent penned up or anything. If only all animals could be treated like that. I hate animal abusers.

If you ever met some domesticated butterflies its quite a sight to get right up close and personal with them. Thats how I got the pics so good . They are well used to people. It was a bit startling for me at first cause i was only used to wild butterflies and those ones are timid of humans. and i had them actually coming up and landing on me and letting me pet them.

They are BEAUTIFUL! I almost feel bad for the blue one cuz a part of its left wing is broken.

No, no. The Blue Morpho's (thats his name Blue Morpho) left wing is under the leaves. Not broken.

when i snapped his pic he had his wingtip under the leaf. everyone thinks his wing is broken but its not.

But im glad you like the pretty butterflies. :)
