OK, pinkos, i submit this:
Communist nations have not really given the world much in terms of ground-breaking, revolutionary inventions, innovations, or ideas in the last 100 years. Am I wrong? please provide examples if I am..

OK, 1st man in space. A great milestone for humanity, good job on their part. Granted the USSR beat the US into space. However, they basically got off to a better start, but we won the "race" by landing on the moon 1st (and alone), with the space shuttle (1st re-usable space vehicle), and by leading the new international space station. Anyway, it was US space technology and its earthly applications that were found to be more advanced and reliable, and therefore employed across the globe.

I personally think that NASA is a waste of money, and that sending people into space, and onto the moon, is also a waste of money! I mean, come on! That money could have been used for something useful! It could have feed a hungry country, or helped the poor! Instead, the government wasted billions of dollars to fly a tin can miles away and collect rocks!
Damnit!

well - there is this little tiny insignificant disease that we like to call, here in america, meningitis. Most people who are infected with this disease, which attacks the brain, die or end up with many amputated limbs and severe brain damage.. dont believe me? well ask the kid in my school with half of one one, and no other limbs, how fun it is!
Cuba invented the vaccine for menigitis.. America has yet to fully authorize american purchase of it.

Yeah, the commies were the first men in space.
How about the color TV?
How about Tetris? The commies brought you Tetris!
What about communist individuals? Look at Albert Einstein! Look at Picasso! Plenty of commies out there.

Those are probalbly very good inventions in their respective applications, but they are mostly components of existing technologies, and again, nothing revolutionary that has changed the world fundamentally.
Assembly line, radio, television, airplane, personal computer, the internet, the cotton gin, the locomotiive, crop rotation rock n' roll, nuclear power, the map of the human genome(pending), Segway HT, nanotech .
These are just a few of the many revolutionary inventions and innovations that the US has brought or is bringing to the world. Stay tuned, there is more to come. Capitalism breeds invention and innovation, a key component to human evolution. Communism stifles invention and innovation. This is why you never hear of even 1 "great soviet invention".
And albert einstein was not a true communist. He loved the US and its democratic ideology.

Assembly Line - This served no porpouse other to expand capitalism and create more products for consumers to buy. If Ford hadn't invented it, someone else eventually would have.
Radio - This wasn't just invented by America. Guglielmo Marconi, an italian inventor contributed by proving the feasibility of radio communication. Nikolai Tesla, as a matter of fact, the one credited with the Radio patent, by the court itself.
Television - The mechanical television was invented by an scotishman named John Logie Baird. Not an American.
Airplane - True, the standard, origional airplane was invented by Americans. But the British and the Germans invented the Jet engine.
Personal Computer - Many inventors from many diffirent countries contributed to this invention.
Rock n' Roll - Was this really invented? It's a style of music. You don't really 'invent' styles. Ooh! I invented the Hokey Pokey!
Nuclear Power - Ever heard of Einstien. He laid out the theoretical foundations for this..
"Albert Einstien was not a true communist. He loved the US and it's democratic ideology" - You need to study on Einstien. If he wasn't a true communist, why would he be a recognized member and leader of certain communist parties? He did not like the United States. He moved to it to live in it because he needed to escape the Third Reich. Eventually, he moved back to Germany.

Einstein was a Jew. He escaped the third reich when Hitler was demanding the Jews to leave, shortly after he seized power.
Eisntein went to save his ass, not to move to the "land of liberty", dolt.

An invention is an invention regardless if it is a componant of something else. One would argue a Radio is a componant of the human ear and a TV a componant of the human eye and ear.. lol...
anyway, just one example (because I'm lazy now) of one USSR invention I mentioned that was not a componant of anything... except maybe cancer..

Eisntein went to save his ass, not to move to the "land of liberty", dolt.
Yes he left Germany to save his own ass. Would you have instead put yourself head first into an oven? He was a convicted Marxist and there are no If/ands/ or buts about it....

I was calling the capitalist a dolt for thinking that einstein abandoned Germany simply to live in glorious america. When in reality he abandoned Germany just to save his ass.

Capitali$t Imperial,
You are falling into the thought trap that new toys actually equal progress. But that's Amerikkkan thinking in a nutshell for you. The more shit you have, the better, the happier you are right?
None of this "innovation" has eased the suffering of the poor and hungry, lessened the work week, helped the environment, etc, etc, etc. And who can have all these new toys? Everyone? Not by a long shot.
The assembly line simply turned labor into even more obvious cogs in the wheel. Television is a propaghanda tool. And don't even get me started on nuclear power (if you think nuclear power is a good thing, you have a lot of reading to do).
Edit: In a nutshell, are all these new toys helping people live more fulfilling and meaningful lives?

Yeah, the commies were the first men in space.
How about the color TV?
How about Tetris? The commies brought you Tetris!
What about communist individuals? Look at Albert Einstein! Look at Picasso! Plenty of commies out there.
And Salvador Dalí!

The first orchestra without a conductor was started in Soviet, inspired by communism.
And by the way, Rock and Roll was referred to as commie music that 'corrupted the kids'.

And albert einstein was not a true communist. He loved the US and its democratic ideology.
Democratic ideology? Yes. Capitalist ideology? No. Again, communism is not Stalinism. There are a whole mass of people like Einstein including myself who understand that democracy and communism must go hand in hand.
Ugh. I'm kind of drained out from debating, especially with the mention of Stalinism.

Quote: from Drake Dracoli on 2:36 am on June 12, 2002[brAssembly Line - This served no porpouse other to expand capitalism and create more products for consumers to buy.
Eventually, he moved back to Germany.

assembly line: acheived unprecedented economies of scale, allowing comon workers and middle class to afford large, mechanical type items like cars, also lead to a revolution in the economy of production that benifts the entire world regardless of politics
Radio: history states and evidence shows tat the 1st radio was invented by Great American inventor thomas edison (he also brought the world the light bulb)
Television: Was invented in the United States by American Philo Farnsworth
check yourself: www.farnovision.com/chronicles/ tfc-who_invented_what.html
Airplane: I understand the germans invented the jet engine, but that was a naturally evolved componenet of the airplane, and like you said about ford and the assembly line, "if Germany hadn't invented it someone else would have".
Personal Computer: Most expert credit american company IBM for inventing the computer, as well as making it available to the world.
Rock and Roll: More than just a music style, a totally new cultural movement that did nothing short of change youth culture, and by extension the world, forever
Nuclear Power: I undestand einstein was the cheif developer of nuclear technology, but he developed it and brought it to life in the United states, in US labs and with US resources, and he had help from distinguished US scientists like oppenheimer
Oh, I forgot to mention alexander grahm bell and the telephone, oh, and also, we brought electricty to the world... just 2 more little things

That's mainly true CI, but America can not solely take credit for inventing those. There was help from all sorts of other nations, and many people contributed to it. Just as no single country can claim that they were the sole winners of WWII, no one country can claim that these are soley their inventions. Most of these had an equal amount of assistance from other countries in shaping the world today.

One of the main reasons that the U.S. won the Cold War by outspending the U.S.S.R. results from the fact that we were constantly feeding them faulty technology, via espionage. Fact is, without the stolen secrets that they depended on in order to keep up with U.S. technology they would have lasted longer as a communist regime. They could not compete in R&D or design turn around, so they relied upon their intelligence assets to keep them up to speed. They failed to realize that part of our stategy was to make them waste time, money, and valuable assets by sinking it into flawed technology.

I think we can all agree that the mind provides the invention, not the economic system. Capatilism didn't invent the first man on the moon, Communism didn't invent tetris, meningitis vaccine. The human race did.

Tkinker,
You are right. Invention is a testament to the human spirit. It is one of the behaviors that seperates us from the rest of the animals. However, you must admit that certain political and economic systems stifle free thinking, thereby reducing man's inventive character. Socialist and communist systems also seek to remove the incentive for a man to devote his life to new creations.
