Glasgow's Anti BNP action Saturday

Yesterday, Three BNP activists came into town to sell newspapers. Mr Path-e-fist, SamB and all the Anarchists, SWPers, communists and Palestine support group surrounded the three fuckers and stareted chantin "NAZIS OFF OUR STREETS" A group of Anons also joined us and then one of the communists and an anarchist ripped up the BNP papers. This was a good symbollic victory fir a united left however the BNP were testing the water, they're bound to come back soon in bigger numbers, the cheeky fuckers can't be tolerated and we won't stand for them polluting the streets.


For anyone who can make it to Glasgow on Saturdays we'd appreciate it and even people who are nowhere near here feel free to make suggestions on how to tackle the fascists. Especially if they have police protection or way to much muscle next time. We suspect that they'll be back in 2 or 3 weeks but they may be back on the 12th, we don't really know.

you would be surprised, there is a large eastern european community up here and also there has been iraqis working in various fish factories etc. plus asians that have lived here for years. the north is ripe for the fash and there has been some movement in the moray area recently. well done to all concerned in glasgow in getting the fash of the streets.

Its an interesting one. UKIP are much more successful, in my view, in distancing themselves with the full-blown racism of the BNP in the eyes of people; themselves mostly being defined as anti-EU. As with the BNP, where they organise they become dangerous. In Glasgow I have never come across UKIP members, and the most obvious and immediate threat is the BNP who are now organising in the city: three consecutive weekends have seen them selling papers.

Theres no way UKIP are more dangerous than the BNP, or for that matter actually fascist. UKIP do have black representatives. That doesn't make them not of the far-right, or not having racist policies re immigration but they're not as extreme as the BNP, which debars non-whites from membership.

And in terms of power UKIP only really did and do well in European Elections. The BNP are far more dangerous in that they have entrenched themselves into working class areas winning a lot of councillors, and have an activist base.

This isn't so true in Scotland, but as the split in the BNP hit them in Scotland pretty bad its possible they are increasing activity to show the wider party they still exist.

I also heard that UKIP does background checks on potential members and if any of them have/had links to extreme far-right racist groups then they arent allowed in (Unlike the BNP whose entire leadership seems to be made up of ex-National Front activists).

Not that UKIP are any good but i think that leftists should be concentrating their strength against more potent threats like the BNP as UKIP are definately the lesser of two evils when compared with the BNP.

Quick heads up to all the folk who staff the stalls on Buchanan street. Apparently
the BNP have gone to the police to complain about their harassment when they have tried to peddle their filth in Glasgow.

"BNP Scotland will not be intimidated by extreme left wing thugs our decent hard working activists will no longer put up with abusive and threatening behaviour from these people we have every right to conduct paper sales to spread our message of hope and truth to the embattled British people.

Members of Glasgow region paid a visit to the police last night to lodge a complaint of harassment against the stallholders that abused threatened and caused criminal damage to their property a few weeks ago.

Glasgow region organiser Charlie Baillie sent in this report:

"The undeserved harassment by the Reds of the Socialist Worker Party during a Saturday paper sale of Freedom newspaper in the heart of the city centre of Glasgow prompted myself as Glasgow organiser, to lodge a complaint against this affront to freedom of expression and to our personal dignity. We were given a very polite reception at the police station and were sympathetically listened to regarding the details of the 20-30 mob abusing and threatening only four activists".

Looking forward to this Saturday?s paper sale Charlie went on to say,

"We have been given a procedure to follow prior to any future sales where we think we may invite unwarranted harassment that will ensure our lawful rights are not violated, and we will be using it on this weekend".

Well it's not my fault if the plod don't know their jobs is it? Jackass tried telling me that we needed council permission to hold a stall on the street till I explained the wee bit about not needing a traders license if you aren't trading.
He then tried to take a copy of Freedom and thought he could catch me out as Freedom if 80p a copy. Had to point out the clause in the street traders act exempting sellers of magazines and periodicals.
He really didn't like me not respecting his authoritah! :laugh:
Found out on Saturday that it's ok to have a collection tin on the stall so long as you aren't actively soliciting donations i.e shaking it. Doesn't affect us but could be good for the Palestine stall.

We must educate people on what they really stand for. They have deceived many through their lies.

On their website they say that they want to protect the white British people in a very long winded way. Also, their old leader was a open racist, and Nick Griffin was arrested for inciting hatred against the Jews. This PROVES that the BNP really is racist. We need to get that out.

Hopefully the Socialists will take over in Brittan and set up a Democratic/Socialist government. Then I hope they will sentence all BNP members to death for supporting a evil ideology!

Hi folks I have looked in a couple of times and just wanted to say well done to opposing the Nazis in Glasgow.
I would just like to say watch you dont get arrested as it looks like the police seem intent on giving them protection. I think the best way of dealing with them is the old louder than you method. Give them a good blasting with a megaphone and keep it up until they move on.

I had a look at the pathetic BNP Scotland website, and it looks like they are getting cocky in Scotland. We need to let people know what they are up to.

I have just found out this weekend that Gary Raikes the new person in charge of Scotland likes to use his work van when out and about doing BNP work. I am sure that if his bosses checked the van they would find leaflets and papers in the back of it.

Now I am not sure what company he works for but It may be Scottish water, as he is responsible for clearing road drains etc. Even if the worked is sub contracted out by the council, I am sure that they will not be happy with tax payers money being used to distribute Nazi leaflets.

Ref Glasgow, they would have received there new batch of papers so they will be out and about soon.

Ref Raikes I have just checked the Scottish BN Pratt site and the latest photo posted was taken on the 6th if you look at the properties of it. Yet again another example of him supposed to be working and using the time for BNP activities.
