I love reggae music, but not so much the Rastafarian religious influence.
Anybody have any good reggae bands they know of?

Peter Tosh and Junior Reid (and his band, Black Uhuru, I think) are my favorite non-bob marley reggae artists.

Wow there is so much good reggae out there. I can't give you a good start cause it really is all good. And there are several different types of reggae witch have their own unique sound as well.
Anyways ,
Trojan has alot of good stuff. They actually just made box sets of alot of the different styles. My fave from the series below

A few reggae albums I can recommend
Who Say Ja No Dread - Jacob Miller
On Bond Street - Bitty McLean
And for compilations get - 'History of Ska, Blue Beat and Reggae'.
Also look out for the 'Rock A Shaka' comps.
Trust me on the Bitty McLean one. I had wrote him off as more pop than reggae but 'On Bond Street' is a great reggae/ska/rocksteady album.
