Well, I haven't listened to too many Jazz albums, but Kenny Burrell's Midnight Blue is brilliant. The song 'Saturday Night Blues' on that album is awesome.

In fact, Chitlins Con Carne is one of the first songs I learnt to play. :)

I don't really have a very big Jazz collection, only around a dozen albums. Buty this is my top 5 -

1. Mingus Ah Um - Charles Mingus
2. Open Sesame - Freddie Hubbard
3. Birth Of The Cool - Miles Davis
4. Time Out - Dave Brubeck
5. Blue Train - John Coltrane

The Redskins did a great version of 'Move' which is the opening track on Miles Davis 'Birth Of The Cool'.

John Coltrane , i almost forgot about him! I'm listening too John Coltrane - John Coltrane at the moment. Other Free jazz hero's : Gerry Mulligan , Erroll Garner and Dave Brubeck. And i wouldn't classify Billie Holiday under Jazz , more like Blues ... No? She's cool:)

MMM. Some of her songs are more blues, and others Jazz. Strange Fruit is blues, but most of her stuff is jazz. Songs for Ditingue lovers is Jazzy! i have a "Billie's Blues" album and a "JAzz Greats - Billy Holiday"....so in my opinion she is the border between Jazz and Blues.
