Given laws like AETA, and the Homegrown Terrorism and Violent Radicalization Prevention Act I think it might be wise to start talking about Underground Railroads.
I hust finished a book called "Underground Railroad : Practical Advice for Finding Passengers, Getting Them to Safety, and Staying One Step Ahead of the Tyrants" by Jefferson Mack http://www.paladin-press.com/ it is written from a libertarian standpoint.

thats where the name comes from, but it is just a general term for an organization that helps people get away from oppresive goverment/laws etc.

Definitely a wise thing to start thinking about, especially in more oppressive countries. Actually, I think it would be extremely wise to start organizing this. I'm feeling like something big's going to happen in the near future, and whenever something happens, oppression follows. Just look at 9/11 and America. Patriot Act, anyone?

I have that book as well, its just sitting on the shelf, I think I read about 20 pages, didn't seem like it was really getting into the actual operation of an underground railroad.

Well there are plenty of hiking trails that cross the US-Canada border, it's easy enough. I think the time to organize support networks is when there's actually a need for them.

realisticaly Canada may not be any better than the US, and you can never be too prepared.
