I ran across this video Russia Today:Communism back in fashion (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-vYM5Yrrlk).
It doesn't make sense, they talk about some young people in Russia that are into communism, then talk about how weak the communist party is, then talk about nostalgia for the USSR and says the communist party is weak because it focuses too much on the past, then they go to a "expert" saying communism can't work because of human nature then at the end conclude the more people come to terms with Russia past the fewer people want communism.
It seems like their script had a half-ass re-write as Russia Today realized the story was too pro-communist and they threw in some communist bashing at the last minute, as the ending makes no-sense since early they already said there is a grown nostalgia for the USSR in Russia.

The Russian Communist Party has united with the Orthodox Church to protest against homosexuals, and so there is no reason to treat this development as something positive, it is primarily based on the party's appeal to nationalism, and so is not an indication of greater development of class consciousness. Russia urgently needs a new party, which upholds a program opposed to all forms of oppression - including homophobia - and a party that acknowledges the mistakes of the Soviet era.

This is, by the way, a drunken post, so I apologize if it does not make sense. This weekend has been the "Rugby Sevens" in Hong Kong, and so I have been out drinking heavily - I often go this bar which offers a drink called the "multiple Orgasm" which is very tasty (and intoxicating) indeed. My spelling is certainly good, given my intoxicated state! Thank Lenin for Firefox spell check.
Yhea your post makes no, Russia Today said the Communist Party is down in the polls but blamed it on focusing too much on the past then Russia today went on to bash communism to make up for talking about growing interest in Russia's past and communism.

Lets remember that Russia's GDP fell 70% when the USSR fell. The Great Depression? A fall on only 30%.
After the collapse of the USSR, livings standards dropped exponentially.
Average life expectancy also fell more than 10 years I believe.
Regardless of the bureaucratic control of the country, the majority of Russian people where better off under the dictatorship.
And I heard that the Communist party is the main opposition in Russia, and actually won the elections in 1996, but were defeated due to fraud on the opposition's part.

How does that constitute as a win, if it was deemed fraudulent?

This may be way too optimistic, but I have a feeling that if there was a "communist" resurgence in Russia it'd be a lot better off second time around.

The communist party got more votes, but the Yelstin stooges fudged the results and deprived the CP of their victory.
