well i have had some people ask me about anarchy at my school and a frequently asked question is:
"what would happen if someone murdered someone else?"
i reply with saying that either A) a vigilante would take it into his own hands and kill the murderer B) if the town had some kind of council, they might hold a trial and prosecute the murderer or C) the murderer would be run out of town.
option A and C are a bit crude, and im trying to figure out if option B would be authoritarian or not.
any opinions? or other options that could punish the murderer?

I think the local community would arrest the criminal and hold a trial for him.

I think the local community would arrest the criminal and hold a trial for him.

I am not so sure about that as these people would have been directly affected (Or at least know someone who was directly affected) by the crime/s which would make them highly unlikely to be impartial towards the defendant/s (Remember that everyone is innocent until proven guilty).

The jury should be made up of people who live outside of the area/s affected by the crimes and only of people who dont know anyone (Friends, relatives or themselves etc) affected by the crimes (Though the defendant/s can be tried in the local area as long as the jury isnt influenced by local opinion which could be biased).

This way the defendant/s is guaranteed a fair trial from an impartial jury.
