Hey all,
AlleyKat calling. I signed up quite a while ago and made an introductory thread, except nobody really answered so I was sad and went on a temporary hiatus, not really... just a whole lot of family/money issues. Anyway I think back then (when I first signed up) I was flirting with Eugenics for some reason or another, probably because of my chronic pessimism about the world ending via overpopulation, but hey it's gonna end anyway through environmental degredation/spontaneous asteroid destroyage/nuclear war/etc... unless we do something. And that's where I guess I come in, I consider myself a Green Anarchist, although I'm not a primitivist because i like my vaccines to deadly diseases, ventolin, plentiful food, warm clothing, and easy access to heat sources. But more importantly I think I'm generally just a nice guy trying to do his bit to change the world. Oh, and you guys seem like a really nice bunch so I hope to get to know y'all a little better :)

Shalom. AlleyKat

Thanks mate! ♥ Oooh you're in Sydney, I'm in Melbourne myself. Do you know of any anarchist groups in Melbourne at all? As great as the internet is as a medium to discuss political issues, real activism is always better!

Welcome.

Look out for those leninists who eat anarchists for lunge. Have a nice stay.

AlleyKats name and avatar remind me of SleepingDog but as the dialectical opposite. (too bad the anti-immigrant doesn't post here anymore =/)

In any case bonjour & benvenue. Salam. :)

Wow, thanks so much guys for the warm welcome! I feel loved :blushing:

Why would someone with an anti-immigration stance post on a radical left wing forum and not somewhere like scumfront?

Dunno, he was a confused anarcho-syndicalist who approved of borders keeping immigrants from 'stealing' American jobs. Prolly posts there now, though. ;)

Haha, "Quick, there's an American! let's take his job!". Capitalism breeds racism through people's employment insecurities and a whole other fiesta of things it seems. Anyway, he sounds like a National Anarchist, although those guys... they are a bunch of irony and good for a laugh.

I do, actually.
ADA, MAC, MACG, Barricade.
Off the top of my head.

By the way, I don't suppose you attended the A-F convergence that occurred over the past long weekend?

Not to be a dilly of a pickle but do they have websites?

No, and as much as I'd like to be, I'm not really active in anything at the moment. Thus the asking about Melbournite Anarchist groups.

Ah, okay. I'm not aware of any sites. MAC has one, but its not been touched for a long time (Despite them being active).
However, a new anarchist space has opened in Melbourne, and there are existing ones already - such as Loophole.
The new one is run by MAC.
There should be a forum up soon by the A-F.
I'll let you know when its up.

Wait, heres one for Barricade (http://barricade.org.au/)

Oh wow thanks mate, that would be great and I'll visit Barricade as soon as possible ;)

Oh and just to add, I have a little problem with Barricade's "What we believe" statement which I guess I'll talk with them about when I go there.

We recognise that the land on which we stand belongs to the Wurundjeri people and we participate alongside the Koori community in the struggle for land rights and self-determination.

The earth is owned by everybody, not by some ethnic group whose long dead ancestors were wiped out by imperialist wankers. I just have a slight problem with that statement.

It's the foundations that this nation is built upon. You can't just disregard it.
Australia is built on the blood of Indigenous people

I agree, however the statement clearly says Australia belongs to the Wurundjeri people, that is entailing ownership.

Well, no, not Australia. Australia, as a "whole", was never owned by the indigenous people, but was rather divided up into "nations" with fluid borders (not that fluid, though).
In any case, it's about recognizing the past, about history, and its subsequent distortion, rather than the implied white guilt, or implication of ownership.
