inodctrinated people..... - anyone else think this is scary?

While we were waiting to go into class yesterday (i'm in australia), a group of guys was talking about something, and one of them wanted to borrow something off someone else, who said he couldn't lend it, because he needed it. the other promptly replied with "you socialist pig!".
Does anyone else think it's slightly scary that we have grown up in a society where socialism = bad, to the point where capitalist faults are being attributed to socialists?

when i was taking economics in grade school the teacher was talking about the entrepreneurial spirt in the market place and she asked what it takes for an individual to excel in this system, I answered greed, where she responded yes. It is greed that takes us to the peaks of market evolution she replied, I just wonder how many kidz were convinced.
