what the hell is American national culture? Fast food, bastardized anglophilia, SUVs and killing Red Indians.

I seriously have no fucking clue what USA is as a culture. There are some unique cultures, but none of them are national. What I listed are the only things I find pandemic. Sure there's New Orleans and creole culture, but that's New Orleans, not America. Sure there's the Southwest, but that was just stolen from Mexico. Nothing unites this country...oh wait, the English language, but that's not an American invention, it's one of Low German warriors, conquered Bretons, and Norman conquerors.

Nationalism myths are always dangerous, but none is more.........baffling than that of the US.

It's also important to remember to not get too discouraged when we see so many idiots post applause on youtube for this tripe--right-wingers often have access to computers. Look at Chavez, so much of what is online is ANTI chavez, even when in spanish, but I remember that his support lies in the masses of Latin America who don't own computers or waste time at Internet cafes posting stuff.

What is even more irnonic is that this rabid anti-immigrant ultra nationalist is the son of Jewish Russian born immigrants.

Even as a kid I knew how absurd nativism was. Unless you're 100% Amerindian you are an immigrant/child of immigrants. It pisses me off when people talk about immigration when they're fourth or third or especially second-generation. What's the criteria for being American I ask them, whatever you are??

In all seriousness if someone looks with favor on civil disobedience of the 60s but hates Mexicans s/he is either a big hypocrite or really ignorant as to why the immigration issue even exists. Unfortunately I think it's a mixture of both, which sucks when you're arguing someone on this. If someone has more than one irrational reason for opposing something they'll keep switching on you.

Come now, who didn't see this coming? Anyone who has listened to his program at all knows that his values are beyond conservative, they are fascist. Do you when and what? I'd be more than curious. For the most part I've always thought his Nazi trip was more or less a show on the part of a sociopath whose previous career had failed to get him the fame he desired. Not to suggest that egotism and greed are in anyway incompatible with genuine fascist leanings.
