I was watching a Channel 4 documentry on Iraq presented by John Snow and he was interviewing an old Iraqi man surrounded by what seemed to be the whole street.

Basically this man was complaining about how they (The poor people) couldnt afford to get medical treatment (Because the health service had been privatised) whilst the rich Iraqis could.

He was also complaining about the fact that the poor communities are less protected from the violence and he brought up the fact that the rich Iraqis lived in closed off areas which were completely sealed off from everyone else by military installations which were guarded by military personal (Which prevented any attacks by terrorists).

What it basically came down to is the fact that the Iraqi man was saying how unfair situations like this were (Poor have to suffer whilst the rich can just shut themselves away from it all) and everyone around him agreed.

These Iraqi's understandably seemed real pissed off about this and they blamed the government who are sealed off from the Iraqi people, that they are suppossed to represent, in the American green zone.

Now i know that this was only one small incident but it seems promising that such a large group of people would openly agree with what this man was saying in public.

Could this be a sign that your average Iraqi is becoming more class conscious now that he sees that rich people dont suffer whilst poor people have no choice?
