Che Guevara your opnion.... - whats wrong with hippies.

Che Guevara you have used the word a few times against me if it is something bad. Im not a Hippie but I can't see very much but points in them either. If we were all hippies this world would be a better place to be, maybe almost like a anarchist society.

But you see them as bad so could you please explain me why ?

I have to say, FtWfTn said my feelings more or less. I mainly have a problem with their insistence on non-violence and their use of drugs, which are somewhat linked. In general, I have a problem with anyone who claims to be anti-capitalist but advocates non-violence, especially those who have a nice, comfy lifestyle.

No, I don't perform small acts of anti-capitalist violence that wouldn't achieve too much, except when I'm really moved to do so. I was referring more to non-violence with regard to overthrowing the entire capitalist system.

Although several weeks ago, I was walking past the local pizza parlor and I heard a regular, obnoxious, rich, fat, balding middle-aged customer in there yell to the Mexican guys working hard in the back in the one of the five words of Spanish he knew "soon", as in hurry up and make my pizza soon. I waited until he left the store, and then I told him if he ever pulled any shit like that again that I'd cut off his balls. A completely empty threat of course, but I have a feeling that he won't call me on it.

well.. im not a hippie.. i dont do drugs.. (it's been a couple of months since the last joint and a year since i was really stoned)...

i am middle class, have enough money... and i am against violence.... but i probably would have made that guy feel sorry nonetheless....
still.. i hate violence... i just cant hurt people.. never been in a fight, either... im a wimp.. ;) i cant help it... i suppose i should be some WWF-style badass thug.. ;).. to be a REAL man... ;)

What you need to do is learn the difference between someone who won't storm the Pentagon right here and right now, and someone who would never participate in a violent revolution no matter what.

Hippies aren't the only druggies out there, and pot is much, much safer than coke or smack. And who seems more like they're in a perpetual bad trip: Someone who wants to kill every capitalist they see, or someone who wants to think things through before they strap on the dynamite?

No, the products are necessary. I never advocated running around in a loin cloth. I buy them too. However, if you're propping up capitalism slightly, you might as well ACTUALLY be working against it. Yes, let's look at civil rights in this country. They're in a great state.
