I read that gas prices in Venezuela are about $1.80 a gallon... I don't know how true this is.. I cant find the source.. but do you guy know if this is true?
How is it so cheap? I made a comment to a co-worker and he said to me...

"thats government own for you, send your product to shit, thats what happened when you take the profit from an industry"

It must be true at least to some extent since Colombians who live in the border near Venezuela go buy their gas at Venezuela.

Actually, its less than $1.80 a gallon. You can FILL the tank of any common car with 23 bolivares f. Which equals to one dollar! :D

Heh, its the benefits of reform capitalism (welfare capitalism), which brings along problems of its own.

Im more excited about cooperatives, anti-imperialism and the other more revolutionary aspects of Chavez's reign

In Venezuela, gas(oline) almost is given away. The story before the figures: as an aftermath of the "Caracazo" riots, oil price rises became a taboo theme. And now that Chávez sells cheap oil to poor people here and there in all the American continent, rightwing opponents are waiting for an oil rising to launch an antigovernmental campaign.
Believe it or not, the figures:
One liter costs 5 cents, one gallon (3.785 liters) costs 19 cents of $.
