School leavers in the UK would swear an oath of allegiance to the Queen under new government plans. Should pupils take part in special citizenship ceremonies?

No. Fuck the Monarchy. In Canada too, it's ridiculous. We're not in 1712 anymore. Grow up.

Its just another stupid idea from the Government who obviously wants us to be more like the Americans. Anyone who actually thinks we need this, or the monarchy itself, in the 21st century is in need of help.

This is just laughable. Looks like they are only using it to try and validate the citzenship tests for immigrants.

Sickeningly the person who proposed this suggested it would help British people intergrate newcomers into society better.

I am not going to swear allegiance to a woman and her family who does nothing to justify getting the millions of working class people's money that she and her family happily lives in comfort on.

At least it's your own flag. In Canada (at least theoretically) we have to swear to a lazy inbred from thousands of kilometers away.

God save the queen
The fascist regime
They made you a moron
Potential H-bomb

God save the queen
She ain't no human being
There is no future
In England's dreaming

Don't be told what you want
Don't be told what you need
There's no future, no future,
No future for you

God save the queen
We mean it man
We love our queen
God saves

God save the queen
'Cause tourists are money
And our figurehead
Is not what she seems

Oh God save history
God save your mad parade
Oh Lord God have mercy
All crimes are paid

When there's no future
How can there be sin
We're the flowers in the dustbin
We're the poison in your human machine
We're the future, your future

God save the queen
We mean it man
We love our queen
God saves

God save the queen
We mean it man
And there is no future
In England's dreaming

No future, no future,
No future for you
No future, no future,
No future for me

No future, no future,
No future for you
No future, no future
For you

What! you haven't already?

I think we should start writing oaths before the man forces one on the kids.

Truth is, most prols in the cities of Britain would rather saw their heads off with a rusty saw than chant an oath to loony Lizzy and her Nazi sprogs.

I ain't swearing nothing.

In fact, I do not swear in the first place. I believe it creates two dimensions of "truth". But that's personal.

Still, I swear or affirm "allegiance" to no one.

What the heck is allegiance" anyway. This ain't the army, or the Middle Ages for that sake.

The point is, unless we have an reason and an objective of our own class that we are committed to, that we can 'swear by' then the cap propaganda will have its disgusting influence.

In a word, No. I have issues pledging allegiance to a piece of cloth, much less a person like the Queen.

I would not swear allegience, as I am nobody's subject.

The whole idea is incredibly anachronistic even by capitalist standards - modern societies are effectively contractual - I pay my taxes, therefore I have the right of access to services provided by the government, including healthcare, public highways, emergency services and the justice system. I obey the laws of the land (or at least don't get caught breaking them), and my rights as granted by the government are protected. In theory, anyway.

"Swearing allegience" is a medieval holdover that should be opposed by all forward-thinking people, let alone revolutionary leftists.

"the peoples flag is deepest red,
it covered oft our martyred dead,
whilst cowaRDS flinch and traitors sneer,
we'll keep the red flag flying here,
with heads uncovered swear we all
to bear it (the red flag) onwards till we fall,
come dungeons dark or gallows grim,
this song shall be our parting hymn"

btw, the "red flag" is a "marching" song and should not be sung in the funereal tones of "christmas tree" or whatever it's calledx.
